Just picked up the following tweet from TV Limberg:

Foo Fighters Mark Ronson Jamie Woon Eminem dEUS Rise Against Fleet-Foxes James Blake The Offspring Duck Sauce @Pukkelpop. Morgen in #HBVL.

I can't see why it wouldn't be true but we'll find out for definite in a few hours!!

Not what I was expecting, but a lot of listening to do now. Apocalyptica sound interesting for a start! Friday look strongest at the moment, and there is some good stuff hidden away here and there on Friday too, Being honest, I've only heard of about5 of the Saturday artists!

Interesting, one name for the list already http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/apr/23/wu-lyf-manchester

agree with most people ... ... Friday looks great, sat looks just awful

for people who have been before, do they add bigger bands in on later announcements or is that it now for big names and all we will get is smaller announcements?

because i dont want to book until it gets better

i like blonde readhead, the horrors, the raveonettes, trentemoeller, warpaint, yuck, bonobo, the antlers, explosions in the sky, jamie woon & paul kalkbrenner. but it isn't a strong line up yet for me. there are a few bands around missing (f.e. elbow, interpol, the kooks, the national, the chemical brothers, k's choice, gold panda..). the line up announced doesn't convince me to travel far and take at least 2 days off...

Think dEus will be the "main" headliner. Just basing on last year, they seem to support Belgian acts. I was initially disappointed but already discovered some absolute gems and am building up a "must see" list already - not bad considering when I saw the announcement I thought, meh, about 4-5 acts I fancy on there. There's sure to be another announcement too.

As has been said many times before, those looking for reams of massive names are probably at the wrong Belgian festival anyway. You need to get yourselves to Werchter if that's what you want. Pukkelpop for me is all about discovering new acts, and the fewer distractions on the main stage the better.

On that first list there's only one name that makes me go "Yesss!" and that's Fleet Foxes, but I shall still be getting my ticket tomorrow when they go on sale. Like TheNewUnion I look forward to checking out some of the many names I've never even heard of until now.

Of the smaller names I have seen The Raveonettes and Apocalyptica at previous PPs and would recommend both to anyone...

im not expecting massive names .... just going on previous editions that it looks weak compared

i prefer to check out smaller acts .... and for me ive counted about 25 id already see but wouldnt mind some competition for my time :P

cant wait to see the Horrors again and looking foward to seeing Wild Beasts, Rise Against and Yellowcard for the first time!

hoping for some more well known electo acts though .... do like the genre and happy with Bloody Beetroots but would like a Digitalism thrown in etc

On the plus side, the dance line up is absolutely brilliant. The punk line-up looks strong too, and then with Foos and Deftones, you have your rock fix - however there seems to be a lack of decent NME-fave indie stuff. Last year we had The XX, The Drums, Darwin Deez, Broken Bells, Blood Red Shoes etc... and this year I don't see many examples of that type of band, just hope there is more to come with the later announcement. I still think a couple of decent emerging hip-hop acts are needed too (OFWGKTA!) - I will watch Eminem, but he is too mainstream now to get me excited

dEUS as 'headliner' for Saturday is probably correct, but last year Snow Patrol was technically the headliner but 2ManyDJ's closed the festival and were totally awesome. I still suspect a big name is coming for Saturday night and I wouldn't rule out Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers or DeadMau5 to let everyone finish with a party atmos...

Agreed that Pukkelpop is about more than just the headliners, but I don't see much in the rest of the lineup that gets me really excited.

I saw 35 bands last year - can see about 12 that I'd wanna go and see this year - and a few of those are MEH choices too.

Guess it depends where you come from musically but I had hoped to see more NME fodder, such as The Vaccines for example.

Also hoped for Kasabian on the undercard, and expected The Strokes and Chemical Brothers.

Was wondering if anyone can help me out? Now the line up is out I think it looks pretty good and am thinking about going but I've only been to UK festivals, and no European ones so was just wondering to those who have been in the past, how did you travel and how much did it cost roughly if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks
