I understand its appeal (the Big 4)but having already seen Metallica 4 times in the past 5 years, Slayer and Anthrax at last years Sonisphere and no interest in seeing Megadeth then its looking like I may give Sonisphere a miss for the first time depending on the rest of the line up but I'm guessing it will be sell out now.

Whether you like them or not, it will be a waste of time watching Biffy Clyro as it will be full of knobs trying to spoil it, I nearly came to blows with some in-bred budweiser drinking redneck shouting at Trent Reznor to f*ck off stage as he was a boring tw*at and no one to hear his music when we could all be watching Lamb of God instead. ;)

yeah i dont go to metal gigs anymore, one reason is ive seen most of the bands ive wanted to, and two is because metal fans are dickheads. The pure morinic manner is worse then the shitty chavvy kids. There both two extreme's, ones far right and ones far left.

I bet you if you asked a metal fan who should headline over biffy, theyd say about 4 bands, all of whom have played in the last couple of years. There is no new metal bands stepping up because to be honest, all the major new(ish) metal bands that have a large following are mainly toilet.

I'd probably kill myself if i had to spend a weekend with grown men who shout slayer in your face, and mosh at ALt nightclubs to the same system of a down song every week.

Lowest Common Denominators.

Meh.

Metallica are over here all the time. I'm always up for seeing them again, and it's a huge improvement over Alice Cooper, but it's still a dull booking. Does anyone really still care about the other bands? Anthrax are alright but nothing special apart from the fact they were one of the first. Slayer suck live and Megadeath just suck. I want to see these 10 cities shows, not the big 4.

Good booking, but hasn't sold the fest to me. Looks like a Download day ticket for SOAD and some smaller festies, unless Reading get Soundgarden.

Headliners are damn hard to choose though. To have some sense of credibility, the band needs a back catalogue, otherwise they, and the festival bookers, are accused of picking flavour of the month acts. But most bands with more than 4 or 5 albums have been around a while and headlined fests before, and then there's a repeat booking and accusations of 'boring' and 'same old' etc. Biffy is a damn good choice for a fest to put as a headliner, they've got the sizable following, they've got a back catalogue, and they're growing in popularity. Shame I don't like them, but I'd still prefer moderate sized bands get the chance than every festival fighting over the same group every year (not that I'd complain if NIN reformed and did every festival for 3 years.)

How is the big 4 a pr thing? They were the big 4 back in the late 80's, always have been. Know your history!

I was initially impressed, but have since become quite "meh" about it. I even considered buying a weekend ticket and just going for the Friday, but tbh- I've seen metallica enough times, slayer are shite live now, belladonna is shite compared to John bush, and megadeth weren't brilliant at download this year. I just hope copping has got a decent 3rd headliner lined up!

i didnt all mean metal fans are dickheads, hell i still would consider myself under that banner, i meant all the people whinging " BIFFY CLYROZ ARE NOT METALZ!!1" and just the metal communitys in general lack of tolerence makes them no worse then shitty chav kids who call you " bare goffik and tingz" or " smelly grungers"

It just sometimes i find it a tad embarrassing when i hear people complain that most casual music fans don'y give metal the time of day etc etc, when its quite clear a vast majority of metalheads are quite closed minded themselves also.

I'm too young to remember the big 4 in any kind of nostalgic way (Only being 33 :D) :P

So for me it Metallica with Megadeth and 2 wasted slots.

I liked the idea of witnessing the onsite hype surrounding the big 4 but it's not swaying me enough to want to go.

Also having gone the first year metallicas return is predictable and unimaginative!
