Sparticus
It wasn't just the shift to current affairs, there was definately a change in the delivery of humour. I'd say the transition occurs roughly around series seven in the series, episodes like faith +1 (the christrian rock episode). Whilst new can occasionally deliver an absolute stinker, I generally tend to love them. Mickey mouse brutally beating the jonas brothers was fantastic. Not sure the whole new/old argument stands up though for south park, I remember watching season four when it came out and thinking that there was a massive change in the style of humour at the time in comparison to earlier years, and I was only twelve at the time. jump
Not so much South Park in general but I have not seen a great new adult cartoon since the 90's, I remember being a tween and watching great shows like Daria, Donwtown, South Park, The Maxx & King Of The Hill and the only shows that have come since was Seth MacFarlane's shows, Adult Swim & Drawn Together none of which imo hold up against the 90's stuff. ampersand
randy was randy before season 6. one of the best that comes to mind is 'we love you randy, make love to me randy' episode. just checked and that was series 3. and i'm not discussing the reasons behind killing chef, i'm just saying that at the time they killed him off, that's when it went downhill. series 10 had it's moments but in the whole, it had nothing on earlier episodes. chef for me was one of the best characters. i think it misses him, officer barbrady and ned/jimbo type characters.
