Iggy and Seasick Steve apart...underwhelming. The guys lost it! Worryingly most of the slots on Sat/Sun are now filled (granted there will be a couple more additions to both) so its really only Friday where they can make a big difference...

Headliners aside, I reckon the rest of this line-up could have been cobbled together for about £3.57...I thought half of 'em were dead...

I switch my allegiance from V to IOW and look what happens...talk about falling into a bag of tits and come out sucking your thumb

  • 3 weeks later...

I dipped into the forum on the official website (not a nice experience) Apparently Frank Turner won't be playing because he wanted too much and they haven't announced the sub-headliners for KOL because everybody they suggest KOL ain't happy with (although Chemical Brothers are rumoured)

Some of the bands people are asking for are horrendous...which is worrying as the promotors are fairly active on there...theres enough shit already, get the likes of Pixies/Suede/Elbow/Kanye/Elbow in the mix

Yeah, I would have thought IOW could have afforded to pay more than most other festivals of a similar size as it has fewer bands/stages...they must be making savings somewhere (unless they're still trying to recoup the money they lost in 2005)

Shame, Frank Turner would have been a good addition.

IOW must make so much money every year, less stages, bands who are much lower at other fests given massive spots at IOW, they have a TV deal, sponsored fest, always sells out or is very close to. I can't see how they aren't making shitloads of profit.

Be interesting to see where Beady Eye end up on V's line up this year as they're apparently booked. Just for comparision.

I mean last year

Calvin Harris 3rd on main stage at IOW, 3rd on second stage at V

Florence subbing on main stage at IOW, subbing on second stage at V

Paloma Faith 6th on main stage at IOW, 7th on second stage at V

Its stuff like that that makes you think that IOW must be making more money than V surely?

They've obviously caned it on the headliners this year...with KOL, Pulp, Foos and Kasabian they've effectively got 4 headliners for a 3 day festival (Thursday doesn't count!)

Personally, I'd have been happier with Kasabian not being there and Pulp headlining Sunday...

Theres rumours going round, not that I believe them, that REM are being touted for sub-headliner slots...can't see KOL letting them play before them, they'd blow them away!
