I pay £2.05 for Taylor's landlord at my local, my dad thinks that is too expensive and drinks Tetley smooth at £1.80ish, this isnt uncommon, the beer prices in the local area dropped as soon as a Wetherspoons opened up, they had to as they were all empty :D

If I go to 'posher' places I pay around £2.50, if it gets towards £3 I tend to go somewhere else.

Im not stupid I expect to pay more at a festival, but people saying pub prices and then charging £3.50 - £4 seems wrong to me <_<

Hopefully we will get to Bearded Theory this year, just trying to work out if the kids have exams etc

A couple of the reasons we are going to BT is because of the lack of arena and reasonable real ale prices....obviously the line-up helps as well :P but seriously when comparing prices of festival the no arena and cheap beer did factor in to it

BTW my local pub is here

i'm finding threads like this very helpful, as either the festivals i go to have changed, or i have. i'll still go to glastonbury as i love it, but i find i'm rarely *that* bothered about acts on any of the mainstages anymore. i spent a lot of time at avalon this year... i guess i'm getting old. anyway, my point is, i'm on the lookout for others, and my personal wishlist for a good fezzie would include the following...

not full of thugs/chavs/selfish pr*cks etc

non gestapo-esque security

good, reasonably priced ales

good, reasonably priced food

nice friendly "we're all in this together" vibe

'music' ;-)

the option to BYO is a bonus, as i'm v.poor as of late :-/

this thread and others like it are helping greatly with my 'research'. any other useful nuggets of info gratefully recieved :)

I used to go there many years ago, just after they got told they couldnt have sawdust on the floor any more, still had the outside toilets though. It was probably *the* pub responsible for bringing the "real pub" back to the area. They bought out a few other pubs, then sold them all (except the fighting cock) to a big brewery, who promptly redecorated them all, missing the point of why they were popular

evening people.

having failed to get tickets for Glasto, and as my mate is adamant not to pay for many drinks inside festivals, I'm asking if anybody knows of any festivals, like Glastonbury, where its OK to take your own booze in with you..

Surely. We're even willing to go folk..

ta..

I'd agree with the folks above who've said Bearded Theory (but that's over for this year) and Solfest (August Bank Hol, tickets still available I think).

Also, if you like the Glastonbury Avalon / Green Fields vibe, you could try The Green Gathering 28-31 July near Chepstow. It'll have a reasonable, independent bar but you can also byo and it'll definitely have that 'all in it together', self-policed thing going on, along with a host of not-big-name bands, eco-head stuff, wood-fired sauna and lovely late-night cafs for sitting around with friends old (and young) and new :)
