The Nativity BBC1 v Coronation Street

Well, I`ve been watching The Nativity this week on BBC1 and whilst some of the accents are a bit naff and all that, I think overall its been ok. Tonights episode though has seen me get pretty emotional with the birth of Me Mate (your Mate---everybodies Mate).

Anyway, point is--whilst young Mary was going through the process of drop I harked* back a fortnight to the shite droppin of Fitzs fermented embryo.

No competition... Mary, our Mother of The Lord Jesus won hands down. Realistic cries and sweat-riddled brow and anguished face before Me Mate appeared..all quite realistic and with a real baby too (although unlike Correr--it didnt cry)

Emily Bishop is a poor mans Balthazaar to be honest..and whilst I`m not averse to red-heads... Fitz aint no Alys Fowler is she!!

So--- for me its The Lord Jesus... and a topic win too as its nearly Christmas Day.

Anybody else see it?

Now I'm no theologian but I'm sure I read/heard somewhere (and I went to a Catholic high school so it must be true) that Mary (as was common practice/the custom of the times) was twelve years old when she married Joseph. Now, in the BBC version of the nativity (i have to admit, i've not seen it, but i did see a trailer where this was mentioned) I believe there was a declaration that Mary was 14. Clearly a re-invention of history to avoid making God look like a bit of a Gary Glitter. The thing to bear in mind when watching this, however, is that there is no God, there is no divine purpose for humankind. What we've got now is as good as it gets, so get out on the streets and lets start making things better!
