Christmas Dinner Thread

Bit of self indulgence this one

Christmas dinner in this house is a battle. A battle between me (make the most amazing xmas dinner possible, regardless of cost and/or effort) and my mother (expensive, but also fuss free). Tonight, I have siezed the initiative by simply cooking Christmas dinner after everyone went to bed. Although i did the Ham earlier, and someone else can do the Turkey (I'll still be in bed).

So, I'll be having, Roast Turkey, Honey and Mustard roast ham, spuds roasted in garlic and rosemary, roast carrots with orange and coriander, Red onions roasted in Red Wine, Gin and Bay, mash potato, shredded sprouts steamed and mixed with buttered leeks, sausage meat stuffing, some over priced stuffing from waitrose, pigs in blankets, cranberry sauce, bread sauce (homemade), onion gravy and there's some peas there I might have to do something with.

Anyone else care to share? I totally expect to be beaten within about 5 minutes...

Well, my mother usually makes christmas dinner, but she's got the flu and in bed!

So its a joint effort between me, my dad and my grandma.

Turkey with stuffing, pigs in blankets, sprouts, carrots, broccoli, peas, parsnip, roast and boiled potatos and gravy

!

Our Christmas dinner was served very late in the day/evening but it was a very funny affair, especially when my sister dropped the cauliflower cheese all over the floor and without half the guest noticing, scooped it back into the bowl and served it up! The sausages got burnt too and my mum was mortified! As always, we have way too much left over but the soup will be made today (but without added carpet!!!)

Rabid & I had a big family Christmas dinner at his sister's house in Scotland. We didn't leave home in Northumberland until 3pm & it was a brilliant road trip with a car full of kids & cheesy Christmas music all the way. It was like driving through Narnia much of the way. Even the guys in the totally stuffed car we came across were ok!

Anyhoo dinner was full of laughter & a true feast of turkey, ham & venison and homemade chestnut stuffing with all the veg you could wish for :)

Rounded off with his Mum's homemade pudding & brandy butter :D

Then off out for late night sledging.

( I know it's a Christmas dinner thread but hey what the heck, it's Chrismas!!)

Christmas Day was easy as we went to my brother in law's house and everything was done for us. Boxing Day was a disaster. Should have had my daughters coming to stay with us but our incoming mains water pipe has frozen and we've got no water in the house - so nothing to cook with, nothing to flush toilets etc. Had to cancel till we've got the water sorted. But, maybe we'll have a New Year's Eve bash instead.
