It's better than the bimble was too. Well, it's the same but wider so twice as many people get to see.

I can't be bothered about "seeing" bands anyway - I just want to be able to hear.

I'm suspicious of people who make big efforts to be able to see at a gig - always wonder if they wouldn't rather be at a Cheryl Cole 'concert'.

I'm personally really happy with both annoucements. Beirut are a band I've long liked and have yet to see live so I'm looking forward to their set. Also very happy with John Grant, Midlake, Joan as Policewoman, Woods, the Fall, the Walkmen, Willy Mason, Josh T Pearson... loads, in fact. And I agree that the line-up is better than last year's was at this point. Just confirm the Decemberists to headline and I'll be happy as cheese on toast.

Re the Tipi - in my view it's ok for people to sit during the day when it's generally a bit quieter, but once someone 'popular' is on stage I find it inconsiderate that people stay sat down and take up oodles of space. I also think it's a bit of an atmosphere-killer for the less sedate bands. But that's just me.

OK, back to the Magnetic Fields who are great, but I'm not sure whether they really fit in at EoTR. Too quiet, too dependent on a focused audience of fan(atics) who know all the words. Not the sort of band that non-fans would appreciate, IMO. More of an indoor band than a festival one, really.

And I'm in full agreement with those who say that the best sets often turn out to be by bands that I hadn't heard of before the festival. So....I'm sure it'll be great :)

I do that most of the year but figure my neighbours deserve a break every now and again ;)

Just seems a bit wrong to me to want people to sit down at a concert that's all....that somehow seeing the band is the most important part.

Anyway, we've had three announcements.....I loved the first, less enthused but still happy with the second........but now the biggie....the return of the Ben!!!

You will never ever see Tom Waits in anything but a seated environment and my one time seeing that man was incredible.

Ryan Adams solo sitting.

Rachel Grimes (from The Rachel's) solo.

Roger Waters.

There are plenty of artists that I love which are far more suitable seated than standing.

Shoebox, if you get a chance, check out Joe Pug's support act. I thought they were quite good, and could go down well in the Tipi. (Dana Falconberry & Matt Bauer - they apparently usually play solo but did these shows together. They've got some interesting stripped back tunes with acoustic guitar and banjo, and a sort of Bonnie Prince Billy type breathy vocals, only with both male and female vocals together, sorta like how the Low Anthem sing).

Be interested to hear what you think.

They played 8.20 to 9.10, as a duo. Joe Pug from 9.30 to "10.45" (or so it said. He played maybe 10 songs, and we were in Brixton by 11.05 so I figure he didn't play that long). I enjoyed his show, he had some good banter and was generally on form, considering the venue was only half full and the bass from the heavy metal night in the Garage proper was occasionally coming through the floor.

Good stuff. Really looking forward to it. Sold out tonight, so he'll have a good crowd. I never saw him at EOTR, it was my mate who did and ended booking the tickets for tonight. He's had to shoot off to the States for work though, hence my spare ticket (which my dad actually took in the end), so he's gutted to be missing it.
