terrible childish lyrics and a really unpleasant voice that grates on you after around 3 seconds.

apart from that though, she's ace

Correct about childish, but that is all and, for me, that is partly what makes it so good. The lyrics are direct, personal and in many ways universal. They will not not be taught in future philosophy lectures, or poetry classes, but this is pop, pure and simple, overwhelmingly pure to my ears. I can almost see why the voice might grate, but not for me, There are few competent female pop artists that I do not have some sort of a soft spot for. You see, we all have a view on this and that music and there will always be magnificently complex, giant Venn diagrams of multiple intersections that characterise us collectively as a group of festival patrons. Jessie has her place in the lexicon that is our Glastonbury festival, just like a thousand acts that played and weren't to my peculiar tastes. Hope, and sure she'll be back soon.

Her ruthless careerist attitude keeps me from being able to believe anything she sings.

I believe far more of what she sings is from her heart than for instance Mick Jagger, Roger Daltrey or Elton John, it's populist, yes, deceptively superficial, yet perfectly, beautifully benign music, more heartfelt than any of the less overtly careerist artists that the NME and others promote. Her chosen career is music and she's devoting herself to it absolutely, just like any decent musician would.

Look, I can be cynical and musically snobbish like the rest of you, but this Jessie J is a world wide phenomenon, try watching this without raising a smile, if you can, then it's you that is the monster, not me.

There are loads of really good solo female singer songwriters out there.

And you go and decide to champion one that you have scraped off the very bottom of the barrel. Amazing really.

Comparing her to Jagger, Daltrey and Elton John! You're deranged.

Never change.

What aload of complete bullshit.

This thread is one of my favourites on efests. Willutalk gets about 5 responses to everything he posts, all telling him to shut the fuck up and go to Download, and a load of people like a bit of the old metals. Bamber creates this whole thread about about somebody the rest of the forum nearly unanimously detests, and gets a very minimal amount of hate, people start to have a go, but don't have the heart to carry on. There's an enthusiasm and sincerity to Bamber's work that I do not find present in the work of Miss J, Bamber's posts here make me want to like Jessie J, the only barrier between me and that love is her atrocious work and abrasive personality. I think Bamber deserves some sort of award for excellent internetting.

Not sure if I'm just being dammed with faint praise there, but thank you none the less. For the record I did not start this thread, but I have certainly contributed to it most heartedly. I love Jessie J, my real life friends think I'm weird in this respect too. Each to their own and live and let live. So, as long as there is love for the thread if not the artist, it would be rude not to post a REALLY cheesy Jessie clip now.

You will not be disappointed.

(Unless you hate particularly screechy intros, if you do look away. You have been warned!)

Agreed Russy. Bamber, check out Nicole Atkins.

What a voice

Great cover

I'd rather be impaled on sharp railings right up my virginal ass, after falling from a great height, whilst listening to over amplified Cat mating than listen to that shit BTW.
