Absolute dog shit. And a massive twat whose career is thankfully on the decline.

You have been predicting the petering out of Jessie's career for about four years now my freind. Scant evidence of any such thing happening. Here to stay, She is a bit dumb, bit marmite, but wow can she write tune, and that voice...

I assumed that if the Guardian falsely said that her bi sexuality was a phrase then it would whip up quite a fuss with the bi sexual community.

Ah right. I see what you mean now. I misread what bamber said and thought that she said she was a lesbian but her bisexuality was a 'phase', rather than straight.

I think the phrase that annoyed was

"You choose the sexuality you want to be" or something like that. Which I understand why that angered people.

I agree it was not the most appropriate choice of words, but like the repost from the gay guy said, many gay people go through a heterosexual "phase" before they consolidate their sexuality, and it's really no different from someone who consolidates their sexuality who is heterosexual. She is being honest and no one should criticise her for being that. Human sexuality is an elastic thing anyway.

except her second album relatively bombing despite the biggest launch campaign known to man

(say that as a fan)

But she sold out the O2 London for two nights in the Autumn, and the album went to No 3 and has a Gold disk. It was a relatively big launch campaign but no where near the biggest in history. She divides opinion big time as witnessed in this thread, but I'm convinced her talent will mean she will endure. I'm sure as she matures, the best is still to come.

I'm going to post another Jessie cover here, so avert your ears if this sort thing offends :)

There are literally thousands of these on YouTube, this exemplifies the impact she is having on a generation.

i'm just going to leave this here for you guys, jessie j blatantly stealing songs.

Give me a break. Bogus conspiracy nonsense. Listen to them separately, and yes they are vaguely similar, but so are a million other hits. There are only fucking twelve notes in pop music you know.

Usually, if a somebody has experimented with both sexes before deciding on their sexuality, that's good for them, we need more people in the public eye challenging the set norms and showing that a person's sexuality can change and challenge stigmas. Surely you know more about your own sexual tastes if you've tried a wider variety. However, this is not what Jessie J is doing here, when she first wanted attention, she pulled the bi-sexual card to look edgy, which is a cheap ploy, but fine if a minority in our society gets representation in the mainstream, she could have just settled down with whatever man and not played the bi-sexual thing forever, that would be fine. What she's actually doing now is desperately trying to distance herself from it like she's disgusted by it, after getting attention from it, she's realised that she wants money from singing shit ballads about women loving men, and wants it clear she is no way associated with bi-sexuality any more and we should all shut up about it so she can chase the hetero £.

Fucking career-driven reptile.

So, I assume you know Jessie personally do you? Because you do seem very clued up on her inner thinking and motivations after all.

So essentially she did the exact same thing that Bowie did.

On a serious note though, as a person who genuinely identifies as bisexual I do find it annoying that people label it as a "phase" or a sexuality where you simply haven't "chosen" which gender you prefer yet. Sexuality does not conform to simply ticking a box to say whether you're gay or straight, the sooner the world comes to terms with that the better.

Remember this is the person released a single about how evil money is after being sponsored by Mastercard. She is probably the fakest pop star (and yes I know pop music is full of fakes) we've had in quite some time.

Isn't it different for different people though? Some people say they don't have a choice about their sexuality, while others seem to say it is a choice.

There's always a choice whether to act on feelings or not, obviously if an individual has feelings for both males & females they may find it easier to act on those feelings towards the opposite gender because that's considered the "norm". You can't chose what you feel though, only how you act on those feelings.

Many people would disagree with that though. And for many, it's difficult to be in touch with your feelings. Which possibly explains the first point.

I really couldn't care less about Jessie J's sexuality, just like I don't care about the sexuality of anyone else. It's their business, and no-one else's. What I do care about though, is musical ability, and I really do believe that Jessie J is totally devoid of any. She exemplifies for me the cynical, hypocritical, money grabbing culture of the commercial music industry.

She *did* do the same thing as Bowie. For her and presumably for Bowie too, bisexuality was a phase. That's not to say that being bi *is* a phase, but for her it was - and that's ok. Sexuality does not conform to simply ticking a box to say whether you're gay, straight or bi.

For yourself, the poles of male and female attraction are truly in equalibrium, but for Jessie it appears that she's settled on heterosexuality. For her, this may have even involved an element of conscious choice.

This is a sensitive subject, where suggesting that sexuality can be a choice is tantamount to saying that gays could be 'cured'. Obviously, when your feelings of attraction are split down the middle or you're totally gay, then choice is irrelevant irrelevant, but if you're 5% gay, then you may well be in a position to consciously cut off that side of your personality. This is something that Jessie seems to be doing, after spending a period of time (or phase) exploring her sexuality. That's not to say that attraction to the opposite sex is just a silly phase one can decide to grow out of! However, for Jessie it appears to be part of her past.

From my perspective, criticising someone for no longer identifying as bisexual seems as silly as a gay person criticising someone as saying they're bi, or a straight person criticising someone for being gay. She, like everyone, has a personal journey in exploring and discovering her sexuality. Who are we to judge?

I'll admit I don't really know the background. She seemed on the level from the most recent Guardian article, but you may be right.

yea, maybe. Although I can't imagine how anyone knows that what she said was just a career move
