Migth be a big Hobos fan, depends if they've got any new jokes this season. Imagine I'll catch them opening the Avalon at Glasto...

Ah but this is Glasto too isn't it? My first time. Will the stage be pyramid shaped. Or is it all just markety coincidence?

Anyway, Hobos badge. Cant imagine too many of them around the place this weekend. I'll be the one that looks like Ade Edmonson.... ;)

Well that was pretty good overall. Would go back again, as clearly lots of people do/will, though not a favourite yet.

Of course, and as per a bit of discussion in the Glastonbury Chat section, you've got to like tribute and covers bands to enjoy this fest, and there's a sizeable bunch on that thread that don't, but I do.

Mainly took in the tribute acts, of which Mercury (Queen) were light years ahead of the pack due to the moves and mannerisms of those on stage especially Sir Fred, nevermind the feelgood tunes and plenty of singalongs. Enjoyed others for being true to how I think/know the band sound (Pet Shop Boys tribute, Jilted Generation, & US4/U2 from the tent etc, biggest regret there). & liked the banter from the likes of the Frank Sinatra impersenator and Dr & The Medics. One & a half hit wonders indeed!

As a fest, forgetting it's tributes and covers, pretty good value for money and quite well organized. Security getting into the arena a bit over-searchy especially on Saturday, for glass and tins. Realised far too late that drinks in plastic were fine.

Plenty of toilets, bands usually running on time, enough food & other stalls, and way too many fair rides. Food and drink not cheap in the arena though (albeit not expensive) despite promises of good deals at each stall (hard to find, frankly). But the 24-hour cafe outside was worth its weight, never a long queue, and plenty of nosh all at very nice prices.

One more less good - they really did enforce a no gas-canister camp-fires on site. Loads of them collected at the entrance. Council, I presume, far too tight on that, especially as there was generally enough tent space particularly on the edges like where we were. 10 mins to the main stage too, none too bad.

One suggestion: Given the slight slope up to the main stage, why not create an ampi-theatre effect by having the stage at the base of the slope, so that people can see the main stage acts whilst sitting? Particular bugbear of mine. ;)

& one more good point - a rare fest where there was plenty of urinals in the camping fields, not just the main arena.

I have waffled enough..... :D

Well, my experience at Glastonbudget was mixed this year. I've had 5 great weekends but I will not be returning again.

I think the amount of twats increased by about 40% this year, I saw A LOT of fights, I'd never seen one in the past 5 years but I saw at least 5 on the Friday. Whilst watching Enraged on the Friday, obviously there was a mosh pit and obviously I can't complain about it being a bit violent but this was stupid I saw chavs hitting people in the faces as hard as they could even if they were not in the mosh pit. My friend got punched in the side of the head by a short guy who we saw hit a total of 5 people in the faces, the fifth time punching someone in the eyebrow which broke their glasses and cut their eye, if I had not pulled him back he would have carried on. Then during Jilted Generation it was like a bunch of ex-prisoners had came into the crowd, I saw so many fights and ANOTHER friend of mine was punched in the face! Stuff like this happened all over the weekend, it was like no-one could have any fun or be nice to each other, I ended up not watching anymore bands. I heard more stories about fights and possession destroying on the other nights which didn't make me feel anymore comfortable either.

I also had the pleasure of camping next to a few idiots who decided it'd be a good idea to throw hot coals in the air OVER tents.. unfortunatly 2 of them went through my friends tent (where him and his gf were asleep) and started a mini fire a few centimetres from their faces, if we had not have been there then it would have been up in flames in a few minutes. How did they react? They laughed and told us to stop overacting, we had a few arguments then got security because my friends tent and duvet were destroyed. The security did a good job in sorting out the problem and my friend got a tent back in compensation.

The festival was okay, when something non-violent or annoying was happening. Much better organized apart from the long wait to get in. Lots of people had better experiences, unfortunatly for my group it wasn't great so we'll not be returning.

In addition to Joes post above (me being the one with burning coals a foot from my face)

thankyou to the security who helped out, they did a great job in sorting it all out.

Well organised festival, good security, good food, and the majority of the time is great fun.

Will i be returning? no. I didnt feel safe after what happened, the youth culture of going to festivals seemed to take over this year, and there was a bit of a nasty crowd there. Saying that, the group that were throwing hot coals (which they shouldnt have had anyway) were between the ages of 25-40, shows that people act like twats at whatever age.

Only tip for the future is to crack down on fires more, as i could have easily had burning hot coals going straight through my face.

Thankyou for a good 4 years, for the sake of the festival, i hope the atmosphere improves in the future.

That's bad news you two. Didn't experience any of that personally, probably as on outskirts of camping and never got anywhere near the front of the main stage, but do at other fests and seldom hear of all that. Completely unnecessary. & to think I thought the gas-canister banning situation was an over-reaction. Maybe depends on who's attending. <_<

Yup thought a lot of teens gangs about the place. Just didn't much impact on us. Thought there might be a hell of a lot of litter clearing needed in the campsite though, even where we were. :(
