finding a flat in manchester

so it seems i'm becoming a real grown up and getting a flat with my girlf....

my girlfriend and i have been together for a year now, she took me away for a late christmas present to a log cabin in surrey last week. We got to talking about how i'm unhappy in my shared house, as i've lived here for 3 years and therefore i'm sort of the stand-in landlord having to find new housemates and sort out everyone elses bill money

i knew i wanted to move out, and we talked about the idea of moving in together :O

we spend pretty much every night at each others houses anyway, so moving in together means we'd probably see less of each other instead of saturating ourselves with eachother :P We'll save money on food, on rent, be closer to my work and her phd building and it just seems like a good idea :D

however, it is the first time i've lived with a girlfriend, so a littttttle bit nervous

anyone have any advice to finding a good flat?

I`ve heard theres a small flat going cheap in the Manchester area.

All local facilities nearby with friendly local pub etc.

You need to contact Dev Patel on Weatherfield 0161 25564432.

(dont mention Deidre Barlow though.... ;) )

Are you seeking advice on finding a flat or living with your better half?

If it's the latter the only thing I will say is have patience. Having lived on your own for so long (I'd lived completely alone for 2 years, I didn't even have housemates to contend with) you will have most definitely grown a little selfish in ways you might not even realise. There will be things she does/doesn't do that will annoy you, and vice versa.

Having said that it's also a lot of fun moving in together, and you're right in that it allows you more time to do other things, because less time is spent travelling back and forth to each others (was worse for me with him living 70 miles away).

I wish you all the luck in the world and hope you enjoy many happy years under the same roof :D

??? yer know nowt Me Likkle Amps.... he takes the family name of Patel in terms of official business interests such as the shop, flat and kebab shop and Alahan as his everyday name.

This is common practice within the Indian community.

So, how we gonna find In The Night Garden a new dwelling then?

Does anyone know how much money people would need to move into a flat?

Is it usually something like 2 months deposit plus 1 month rent or is it just 2 months up front?

Confused!

if your going through an agent you'll also get charged an admin fee for the contract and a fee for the credit check, its worth checking what happens at the end of the contract as some allow you to go onto a months rolling while others will force you to sign another 6 month contract and charge you again for the admin work.

just went to see our first viewing!

it was a lovely flat, the size was as small as i would be happy with, not too pokey...

however the job centre is across the street, and if anyone on here knows my history with chav's you know its a BAD idea for me to live anywhere where the wall outside the flat is a drinking spot for scallies
