Therein lies my point.

If Joe1990 hails Beady Eye as the new greatest band of all time says Eminem is the greatest solo artist in the world, I suddenly start to feel slightly cynical about what Joe1990 says. I mean, I don't know if anybody has noticed - maybe I'm the only one - but I have the fleeting suspicion that he might actually know nothing about music, and whatever he does know, is rubbish. Just a theory though; I don't know if anybody shares it.

Oh thank god!

I thought it was only me who'd noticed the minute he appeared on these boards.

But yes, back to Eminem - personally, I've always hated the guy. He's a studio gangster. He went on way too much about his mum, got arrested for carrying an unloaded gun, and then called everybody "faggots". Approached by the media about saying such homophobic things, realising that it might upset his fanbase, he apolgises profusely and then goes onstage with Elton John. Let's put it this way - he was threatening in the same era of music when everybody was scared of Marilyn Manson... unlike Manson, though, he hasn't pissed off yet.

Please go away, Marshall.

Yeah, the festival has changed loads since the 90s. It seemed so much easier to get a headlining slot too, look at Black Grape in 1996, Porno For Pyros in 1993 and The Inspiral Carpets in 1990 - All headlining within months of releasing their debut albums. Plus Nirvana on the Main Stage before Nevermind was out. Back then though Alternative/Indie still wasn't a hugely mainstream thing, then Oasis came along and the rest is history.

I genuinely believe that if The Stone Roses had released their debut album this year they'd be 3rd or 4th from top, at most. :D
