OK, some here's a run at an info thread to hopefully answer questions for people and to cut down on the threads and people getting lost on the forums. I'll split it ito who isn't headlining (based on sound advice, subject to change of course) and who might be headlining (based on the strongest rumours). Links included for current discussion threads.

Muse a relatively recent strong rumour but one backed up by efestivals

Strokes heavily rumoured since last Autumn and have a new album to plug

My Chemical Romance strongly linked ever since rumours of them playing last year didn't come to fruition, could be headlining or subbing

Green Day no real reason to suggest this other than they are perennial festival favourites

RHCP have revealed that they're playing festivals this summer although Melvin Benn has previously said that he wouldn't book them again

Can you throw up Daft Punk (apparently playing another fest in Aug and no other strong rumour for UK fest) and put Cure as not playing too please?

What about R.E.M. as a might be? They have a new album in March, no dates announced and would certainly fit the 2 hour legendary slot.

The big slot is the only problem I have with the current main rumours as yes The Strokes will have 4 albums by then but would need to play almost everything, MCR I couldn't see in that slot at all (still have difficulty even thinking of them as headliners at all TBH) and Muse could possibly do it although when I have seen them I always think they put a lot into stage design and production but short change their fans in set length.

R.E.M. have no plans to tour but Vfests has made them a non-headlining offer to play though.

The Libertines had no plans to tour and an few festival appearances is different to a tour...

I think R.E.M. are no more or less likely than Daft Punk or Blur and with a new album coming out have good reason to be around somewhere

And still my main point stands that I find it hard to see (with the possible exception of Muse) any of the 3 main touted headliners being befitting of the kudos of the "legends slot"

Just out of pure, blind hope really! MCR not really headline material but hey, that's just my opinion. I won't moan about it, I'll just go to another stage.

Are Gorillaz up to much in the Summer? Headlined Glasto last year and have a new album out so could see them doing something like Wireless or at a stretch R&L.
