Private Messages.. a question

you should set up a night school teaching customer service :P

Yep, I should - and teach it to customers and not customer service staff. :P

The customer is NOT always right, the customer is sometimes a moron. And when they are that should be pointed out to them no less than them telling the customer service staff that they're wrong. :)

I think that's probably the right version. :P

Well-- the key to being a decent salesperson or customer service rep or indeed a big wig on an internet caper..is to make the Customer think that they are right..even if behind their back you think they are an arse!

If other people want to waste their time and breathe in a counter-productive-to-life idiot idea to coin every cent they can from mugs then that's up to them.

I play it straight, I speak the truth as I see it. And it means I never have to lick other's arses. It's an honest existence I'd pay to have. :)

on one of the boards I use it became apparent that the "reply to PM" in the email notification (I signed up for email notification for PMs on said board) sent a copy to one of the mods. I was not best pleased. I would never send anything that I didnt want to be read by a.n.other via PM - anywhere. Not casting aspertions on any mod or forum management - I just dont.

sounds like my mum... she was always very proud of speaking her mind

like when we'd give her birthday presents..."I don't know why you bought me that, it's horrible..."

pain in the friggin' arse she could be...

honesty....

overrated a lot of the time, imo

I have no isssue with anyone reading my personal messages. If I have anything important to say I won't use private meassaging on here.

I do however think it's important that the mods can check PM's in certain cicumstances otherwise we may have cases of Cyber Bullying and we wouldn't want that!

Point is.. from your posts.. I think we all know where you stand..and nowt wrong in that of course...my point is that if you were in the "real" world of commerce and were in a position whereby you had to look after people --otherwise you wouldn`t get any money to eat or pay bills.. well, then No1--you would have to change your tack.

What "disappoints"* me is that you dont have the grace to acknowledge that==or much else. Do you have bairns? :D

I am in the real world of commerce. It pays the bills. :)

I've simply realised that you can't please all the people all of the time, so I don't bother trying. And where I don't bother trying where it effects things is when dealing with idiots. The customer is not always right, sometimes the customer is a moron - we all know that's the case anyway.

Yes, I have kids.

That happens here too - tho not by any design at the efestivals end of things.

If a user sends a PM to another user, and the recipient has their options setup so that it sends them an email to tell them of the PM while also having a bad email address associated with their account, then the email bounces back to me and within it is the text of the PM.

Do I read em? Well, I have to look at what mail has bounced and why, so it's not impossible that my eyes will also see some of the PM text.

If that happens with a user who I know is a regular then I tend to contact them by PM to ask the to change their settings so that they're using a working email address so that the emails don't then bounce.

(I'm sure that some reading this thread can confirm I do that, such as 'sifi' who was the last person I did this with, about 2 weeks ago.)

If you want to ensure this doesn't happen with you, make sure that the email address associated with your account here is a working one.
