Last Minute Ticket Buying and Selling Advice from an IOW Vet needed

Dilema time!!!

I was lucky enough to get 4 tickets for this year, 3 of us were definite and the 4th was pretty certain they could come. Now we are in the position that the 4th can only come if one of their other mates can also get a ticket, but they wont know until about 3 weeks before whether they can get time off work! God it's hard work organising something like this! My problem lays in that, given the whole needing to book a ferry ticket as well, how easy is it to get rid of an extra ticket at the last minute if they can't come and on the other side how easy is it to get a last min ticket off of one of the exchange sites, or will we struggle that late given the ferry situation?

Picking up a ticket will be easy enough. You may struggle to sell one and recoup the costs though. The line up isn't the strongest it's ever been.....

As for ferry- if you're going by car it wont matter whether there are 2 or 4 of you as I believe it is usually car + up to 4 passengers when you book anyway. Book quick though as most of the good slots are gone already.

If you go by foot- you just pay on the day. Certainly Red Funnel wont guarantee any foot passenger bookings- it's first come, first served even if you ordered ferry tickets online. It's only if you go by car you really have to book, they can ram loads of foot passengers on a boat.

eBay the ticket & put only a buy it now price. It should go & you shouldn't have to wait 3,5,7 or 10 days for the auction to end. Car ferry takes up to 4 passengers so you'll be ok. Foot passengers just turn up.
