Have I changed something that bounces messages back from some people but not others and if so how do I reverse it?

Ive had people try to send me PMs and they get the response that the message has not been sent because the user lletc cannot receive messages. However some people can send me messages. It may be a coincidence, but it appears that if I have sent someone a message they can reply but if I haven't they can't send me a message. Have I inadvertently done something to block messages and, if so, how do I undo it cos I dont know how I did it in the first place!!

the pm's are now handled as 'conversations' (much like a topic on the forums) rather than individual 'messages'. This means that while you could have 50 messages in the old PM system, you can have 50 'conversations' in the current pm system.

i'm guessing that those who can successfully send you messages are replying as part of an existing 'conversation' while those that can't are trying to start a new 'conversation' and are finding your inbox full.

when you started this thread yesterday I checked how many 'conversations' are against your profile and it told me 48 - while the limit is set as 50.

I encountered a similar problem myself with PMs, with the system mis-reporting to people trying to send me messages that my inbox was full when it wasn't quite at 50. I guess this is a minor problem that's been caused by the upgrade to the pm system of 'conversations'.

After I'd deleted some of the PMs I'd had everything seemed to work properly, and my inbox didn't tell people it was full until it hit 50 the next time, so presumably it was me deleting those old messages which had it cure itself.

If I was to manually try and locate and fix the problems you're having I'd have to fully investigate the finer workings of the new pm system within the forums software, and there's a decent chance of me making an error somehow and screwing things up further.

So I suggest that you clear down some of the conversations in your inbox, and then people will hopefully be able to send you new messages, and hopefully the 50 limit will also then work properly too.
