Getting beer/stuff onto the site

It is very easy to take alcohol into the arena, just hide it on your person. No glass bottles of any alcohol in the campsite though so decant it first into plastic bottle (& mixer helps). Security were strict with under 18s bringing in alcohol to the campsite next to the car park, if you looked anywhere near under 21 they searched your bags & confiscated it. I would suggest getting someone local to bring it in for you or pass it over the fence as the fest is right next to the town centre.

Just to add. Most festivals won't let you take alcohol into arenas as it is part of their licensing with the local council + they make money out of it. The only "free roaming" ones are Glastonbury & Bearded Theory that I know of.

Guilfest is quite notorious for underage drinking, I beleive it is one of the reasons why their own forum was closed due to the complaints from regular festival goers.

That's a lot more than I thought! Do you know if it's because they are mostly small-medium festivals or far away from public places?

the two factors which effects most whether a festival does or doesn't allow people to bring in their own alcohol are these:-

1. the attitudes of the licencing authorities (the local council, and local police). They often tend to feel that an established outside bar operator has more to lose if operating outside the alcohol laws than a festival-run bar, and along with that often feel that an in-house bar (rather than allowing people to bring their own) has better control of underage drinkers, and stops people getting as pissed as they might otherwise do (which might bring problems with it). Because these are local authorities, then their attitudes can vary quite widely between one local authority to another.

2. the financial aspects of the festival itself. If no one is allowed to bring their own alcohol, then the festival has another decent income stream via what the bars generate.
