if Soungarden aren't announced then the only thing that could make up for that is the Pixies. The only Reading I've missed in the last 11 years is 2005 when they headllined and I was also away when they had their comeback tour. Sadly I can't see it happening.

I didn't know of anything that's making them seem unlikely other than they don't seem to be touring :/

They've also announced an american and canada tour in a few months so i think they'll play a few summer dates in europe and possibly Reading?? i hope so, a truly great band

I'm making a list at the moment of my 60 all time favourite albums and I've just spent three hours deciding whether I prefer Surfer Rosa or Doolittle.I went with Surfer Rosa in the end.

I just bought Surfer Rosa and Doolittle recently, absolutely amazing, both of them. This really needs to happen!

I prefer Bossanova and Trompe Le Monde to those two, although everything they've done is absolutely fantastic.

Come on Pilgrim by itself is superb. Every track is just awesome. When they mixed it with Surfer Rosa..... Classic.

Doolittle is far better than Surfer Rosa. Both great though.

Never going to happen. People don't seem to realise the likes of Pixies, Soundgarden, Sonic Youth and Pavememnt will get absolutely tiny crowds at Reading/Leeds.

Quality or Quantity though? Good to get a decent balance of both i'd say. Arcade Fire drew sweet FA as well, but they were by all accounts incredible. Same with Nine Inch Nails, one of the best sets of all time right there. But you always need to populist stuff to keep the non-fans happy... pendulum etc

Pixies headline set in 2005 was well recieved and whilst it wasnt a huge crowd, it wasn't tiny by any means. I know this was in 2005 when the festival was mainly inhabited by msuic fans and an older generation but i still think there should b e a place for these bands. I mean if Isle Of Wight can book them then surely Reading can
