Tuesday car parks

Will the car parks be open from the tuesday night again this year? I can't see a mention anywhere....

I had kind of assumed they would.

The site filled up very quickly last year. I think this had a lot to do with the World Cup times, as well as the car parks being open overnight (less impact).

Obviously this year, there will be no World Cup to affect people's behaviour.

Travelling down on the Tuesday afternoon, going to slum it in the minibus somewhere, preferably in a Glasto carpark so have less distance to travel Weds morning!! How does it work? Didn't do it last year. Are you pretty much 1st on site if you do this?

We arrived at about 5am last year, joined the queue from hell!! (see other topics for details/stories lol) finally had tent pitched by 11 ish.

Not sure they will be doing the same this year as no mention on official site.... will have to wait and see I guess.

I did email the festival office over the weekend asking them and also about the campervan fields opening Tuesday lunchtime but as yet no reply!

Can someone else email them and see what reply (if any) we get! The more people that e mail they may answer!!! Or even make an announcement

5am queue from hell?

Do you think a lot of this was due to the WC being on in the afternoon, and folk wanting to be pitched in time for that?

Or do you reckon there was just a lot of people waiting as they'd arrived as early as they could?

I think a bit of both. Lots of peopke will have arrived early just so they can be there as early as possible but also there will have been lots of people wanting to make sure they were onsite and set up for the WC after the traffic hell the year before.

If they do it again this year there will still be large queues but I don't think it will be quite as bad as ladt year

I dont think this year will be no where near as bad as the 2010 opening. Being no football etc. Fingers crossed anyway,

I emailed the glasto office a few weeks ago about this - got this reply

"The intention is the have the same opening times of campervan fields and carparks as in 2010"
