In response to 'Vacant0', cultural exploration refers to like the location, experience and history surrounding the festival.. it is interesting to see that you have had different motivations for goin each time, may I ask what these were?

when i first went to leeds it was for the line up. out of all the big festivals, it suited my music tastes best. now i go because i always enjoy myself, i just like the festival. the night time entertainment is brilliant and i've still had a brilliant time even when i haven't been that impressed with the line up. the time of year is also a reason, i don't like my festival season being over in july, it's good having something at the end of summer.

Indeed.

I yearn for a day when summers are f**king cool again - figuratively, I mean.

Like, you're 15 years old and it's 1999, and you've just finished school early for the summer at the end of June because the school has been attacked by vandals. Wimbledon is on telly, as is The Big Breakfast and TFI Friday, you've got all the money in your bank from the Winter/Spring job you had washing dishes in a pub at weekends, and when you go down the park to play football and get pissed or stoned, the suns out, your mate brings a ghetto blaster and plays the last remnants of Britpop full volume for everybody before you top off the evening by doing the best thing you can at 15 and finger somebody behind the bushes.

Festivals represent that all to me now, which is why it's important I go to one at the start and end of summer from now on, because there's nothing better than cheering up a shitty summer as an adult with a soundtrack that still reminds you of what it's like to be younger. Music starts the summer for me with Daft Punk (One More Time) and finishes with Oasis (Live Forever) every single year and has done since I was about 19, so to go to a festival at both of those times and have something else instead of two old songs is important to me now (at 26) I've discovered the feeling doing such a thing gives me.
