My money was on Strokes subbing anyway and hopefully they have booked at least 1 true "staggering" band.

if i remeber right melvin said that the headliners are not at any other festivals but did not mention there own tour the other week. still i would be suprised if he did book a headliner that int exclusive but think its worth a mention

It does but he has never said "UK exclusive" just they wont be headlining other festivals and normaly it's english festival excluive.

Melvin did mention that they won't be headlining anywhere else. So they can even do a show right up to the day before but yet still play R+L.

Which would be very strange as no other band as has ever been allowed to have tixs on sale/announced dates around the time of the R&L announcement. Not saying it's not possible but to bend their own rules for a band the size of The Strokes would be stupid.

When he says exlusive festival headliners I take that to mean exclusive to festivals in England, so in theory they could still headline TITP, and not headlining anywhere else in England, so they could still be playing second on the bill at Glasto (or even atop the Other Stage). I don't think there's anything that suggests they won't or can't do their own tour.

dont know why he worries about exclusive bands, just get the best bands that are playing the fests.

No, but he doesn't really say anything explicitly, that's the problem. Best to scale it down to the minimum of what he can mean rather than assuming he means something else and end up disappointed.
