Well yes but what I mean is, how do we interpret that? Does the fact they're exclusive to FR mean Melvin Benn can do as he wishes with them and put them on at other FR festivals too?

Probably, but Paolo is TBC for Glasto and although it's not run by FR they are involved. It seems mostly when those bands were approached they did a broad contract to include other fests like R&L, Big Chill, Electric Picnic, Glasto & Latitude at the same time IMO but I doubt they could force them to play a fest they didn't want to in the 1st place becuase of it.

Isn't Paolo Nutini at Glasto or is it because FR are somewhat involved they can get away with it?

it seems that Paolo might also be at Glasto - which of course throws what they said yesterday into question.

But I heard months ago that Suede were really only interested in doing one fest, and that fest was likely to be Latitude. So while I can't be 100% certain, it looks like they won't be at other fests.

I would love it so much if all this exclusivity is just Festival Republic's goal to get Latitude tickets to sell out quickly as possible (or before Monday) , and then on Monday The National and Suede get announced for Reading

I still think there could be a small chance they'll play. If they are going to do other fests then chances are it'll be R&L.

'Exclusive' has variable definitions. Sometimes it doesn't rule out secret slots, sometimes it only means 'we'll wait til x festival is out of the way before announcing them for y'. You never can tell.
