neil999
hello, have just booked the shrubbery hotel in shepton mallett(ba4 5bu) for the tuesday night.. anyone ever stayed here or know what its like and what the surrounding area offers? also, will it be nightmare getting into fest from here with traffic and what not? any responses gratefully received, already looked on trip advisor and no photos and just a few mental reviews i realise this is WAY in advance, but i like to be prepared
lord stradmor
Its a bit shabby but a perfectly good spot to doss down, right next to the police station. There are a lot of quite nice battered pubs in Shepton - the Dust Hole is where the TV crews eat, the Bell is quite decent, as are the Thatched Cottage and the Wine Vaults, but the town can get a bit drunk and lairy late on. Theres a flipping enormous Tesco Extra (open till ten pm) , an Aldi and an Argos just across the way if you need any last minute gear and plenty of caffs. Its not too far from the site and shouldn't get to clogged, it all depends how you are getting there - sites about four miles, head out on the West Shepton road the B3136 and you come out on the A361 just outside Pilton. neil999
thats fantastic info, thanks not bothered about it being shabby, as long as its got a roof, bed and shower for a bit of luxury before the camping onslaught..i'll be happy! tesco should should be great for extra booze too! was a bit worried about keeping camping stuff overnight in a car park, but as long as old pc plod next door doesnt fall asleep it should safe and sound! 5co77ie
I've walked from Shepton Mallet to the Festival a couple of times - some years it was faster than those in the queue of cars.
