Got my tickets!

Never been to any festival before, let alone Creamfields. Most of my friends went to Leeds last year and had a blast, many are returning but i decided if any, i would prefer Creamfields, and this line up deffinately convinced me.

I'm going with 2 mates so theres only 3 of us :/, both are also festival virgins.

We've all got weekend camping tickets, but i'm beginning to wish i took hospitality instead! Can you upgrade?

So are there any tips? What should i look out for?

I've heard a lot of bad things about this festival, many people are telling me it's full of crime and 'scruffs' looking to rob you.

Oh and, what are 'tangerine fields'?

You would have to chack but it's doubtful that you'll be able to upgrade. You could ebay your tickets and but Hospitality ones when they come on sale. It was a sell out last year so you should be at least able to get face value back.

The main thing is to use common sense. Don't take anything of value unless you really need. Stick together and avoid the dark areas of the site alone. Don't wander about talking on your phone and split your cash up into different pockets just in case. This year will be my 10th time and i've never had any real problems. Plenty of friendly people. Yes, there are some chavs but any trouble is mostly chav on chav. It's just like everywhere nowadays, use your brain, don't make yourself an easy target and, unless you're very unlucky, you'll have an amazing time. A few from here met up last year so keep your eyes open on here for details and maybe you can pick up some bodyguards!! :P:D

Alright cool, i really can't wait for this, i highly doubt i'll be spending much time in the tent anyway!

We're all pretty sensible and i'm taking a small tacky phone and very little cash. I'll keep it all on me in zipped pockets anyway. I think we'll get a rubbish tent we can share since theres only 3 of us, and plan on leaving it behind as well.

If people meet up from here that would be cool, always good to meet new people out ot have a good time! It's a shame i couldnt convince more of my friends to try it.

What are the schedules like? Does there tend to be sets playing throughout the night?

Nice choice for your first festival – it’s the option we chose back in 2009, had the best time ever…..now doing Glasto this yr! Someone will always have something bad to say about the festivals that get the biggest hype, so I wouldn’t bother too much with the negatives you hear.

For the cost, I wouldn’t bother with the ticket upgrade either – for those that can do without the toilets & showers for 2 days, the saving in £s is worth taking.

As for the schedules, some areas will finish up at 11pm with others going on ‘til 3-4am from what I remember….DB will clear this up.

I upgraded my ticket last year. We booked through ticketmaster and just called them and paid the difference. They were annoying telling me to call back or someone would call me but if you keep on at them it will work. I personally think its worth the money, the hospitality tent is really good, we will be spending more time in there this year.

Last year was my first year and my main tips would be;

Take a cheap phone - i lost mine and have learnt my lesson

Pack light - trek to the campsite takes a while (unless u camp by the entrance).

I expected to see fights and prepar to get things stolen - i didnt see anything at all and the only thing that went missing was our £4 St Georges camping chair, i was really surprised. We got friendly with the peopel in the tent next to us and are planning on meeting up this year too.

Alright, well i can't convince friends to upgrade for the hos[itality tent, which is what i wanted to see, but i'm still excited for this, a few hours kip is all we'll need anyway and like you say, 99% of people are there for a good time!

What's it like for food and alcohol? Should i take alot of that myself?

I always do Hospitality now and think it's worth it even though we stay in a hotel but it depends what you want. The Hospitality Tent is excellent and you get one meal per day in there as well as clean toilets and then showers in the camp site. The Hospitality Tent is also a great place to head for if it starts to rain!! You also get parking close to the Hospitality Campsite and fast track entry.

Th Outdoor Stage will finish early on both nights (11 or 12pm) but the tents will play till at least 4am on the Saturday although they also finish early on the Sunday due to licensing issues.

Food and drink are ok but, as you would expect, expensive. Take some with you but remember there's a limit on how much booze you can take into the camp site ( I think it's one crate of beer or litre of spirits per person) and you can't take it into the arena (unless you smuggle it in). Also remember that you've got to carry everything from the car park into the campsite which can be a long trek unless you do Hospitality. A cheap camping trolley thing might be worth investing in.

Hope this helps!! :D

Yes defo take drink – its 1 crate and 1L of drink (ie spirits) in a plastic bottle per person. You can only take drink in to the campsite not in to the “arena” (sorry can’t think of another word for it) and they search you going through. Drinks in there are about £3/4 a bottle I think?? Can’t really remember.

We used to drink in the tent, go see who we wanted and when there were gaps go back to the tent and have a few more drinks – depends how far away your tent is ours was practically 2 minutes from main stage.

There are loads of food stools and they are over priced as usual, I am sure I paid £4.50 for a slice of pizza and it only tastes good coz your drunk. There was a pizza express last year – that I so wanted - but the Q was stupid. We took loads of crisps and cereal bars with us for the tent and will defo be doing that again this year.

I advise you to walk away from anyone who tells you to "get in that bin"... this actually happened to my mate when the festival was on the old site in Speke. A chav looking for a fight told him to get in a bin. Genius.

But yeah, pack light. Seriously. I took a back pack in with me with loads of crap in it last year, its the first year I've ever bothered taking a bag with me... and it was horrendous, I put so much stuff in it, it wasn't even funny, and then I went in deadmau5 ghost costume also, and that was a pain in the arse to deal with. So yeah, respect to those who last in fancy dress all weekend...

LMAO @ 'get in that bin' i actually laughed at that!

Thanks for the replies guys, i'm thinking of just taking cereal, a crate, and other stuff thats light and can be eaten.

Really cannot wait for this, been talking to people and it sounds really good. Just be good if i can convince anymore friends to come!
