Yeah, his old band Million Dead were heavy ish. He's more alternative if anything.

Yes they have a new album out but so do Sum 41 and they are still a popular band so why not ^^

I don't have an issue with Sum 41 playing but they'll only ever be a band that are thrown on 6th or 7th on the main stage because some people remember them and their type of music suits R&L.
