I know a couple of people who do that every year. In all accounts, they have a fabulous time and the "duties" are not really a serious bind.

We try to meet up for a few beer each year but not always possible as they keep getting dragged off by their new found green police buddies (when "off duty") to all sorts of wonderful and strange things around the site that they freely admit, they would never of known about or considered trying otherwise (their only regret in 3 years, missing Stevie Wonder! because they were having a wonderful time elsewhere on the site!).
