No. of posts question

Couple of times today i have seen on memebers profiles the post count says active posts...with the numbers being considerably less than the users post count, are you deleting old stuff and therefore peoples post counts will drop?

I'm not sure where you're seeing "active posts". As far as I know there's only one post count record for any user.

Anyway, these forums (all forums) are periodically purged for a number of reasons including system performance, speed of backups, & removing old and so now-irrelevant data. So where older posts made by a user have been removed, their post count in their profile may be higher than the number of posts that can be found for them on these forums.

Sometimes when I've purged old posts I've then recounted the users post count so that things are in step, but perhaps I didn't do that last time I purged the forums (which was last September I think).

For example, on Paul TM profile, it says active posts 10,880. but as we all know he has more than that!

The difference in numbers probabaly comes from the purging you mentioned, so no worries, Thanks!

I noticed this too, I reckon its the purged posts that no longer actually on the boards v the total number of posts I've made
