james_avalon
I've recently got into folk music and I've just been looking at the first acts they've put out for Cambridge Folk Festival: Richard Thompson, Bellowhead, Laura Malling, Secret Sisters and do on Cambridge Folk Festival, and I was wondering if it's suitable for younger people. I'm 22. My friend's dad said it was mainly for the over 40s. Any ideas?
surfncanoe
Hi there I am in my thirties and I take my 17 year old lad. We both love Cambridge folk festival and I would describe us as lively festival goers. There are a LOT of sitty down people there, who do not move when a jiggy act is on, but there is also a large number of us who like to shake our stuff. The first music tent as you go onto the site is smaller, but a much better atmosphere than the big marquee. Cambridge has been good recently getting in some lively acts like Wonderstuff and the Levellers, I hope they do again this year. Last year Show of Hands were excellent. I would give it a go. It is an expensive festival compared to others though and the camping charges are ludicrous. They are VERRRRYYYYYY strict about the pitch that you have to pay for. I had to buy 2 pitches last year which I thought was getting somewhat greedy. surfncanoe I've recently got into folk music and I've just been looking at the first acts they've put out for Cambridge Folk Festival: Richard Thompson, Bellowhead, Laura Malling, Secret Sisters and do on Cambridge Folk Festival, and I was wondering if it's suitable for younger people.
