So Efests is busier than seetickets

Well I'm sure SeeTickets will have a bigger bandwidth allowance etc etc than eFestivals.

I'd have thought many more people were hitting See Tickets than were hitting efestivals. But actually, we might well have the same bandwidth limitations (if there's any limitations actually happening at all).

eFestivals spends a LOT on its hosting, and while I know that things could be improved some more at peak times, it's a case of weighing up the extra costs of more or better servers against the extra benefit that expense would bring.

With the next hardware upgrade that I could take costing an extra £2,500 a year, which would bring some noticeable benefit for around just 2 or 3 hours every year, it gets very hard to justify spending more than I do currently. So as things stand, it's unlikely that they'll be any extra upgrades soon.

I am very happy with efestivals service. I expected it to be slow around 7pm but service has got back to normal quickly.

I've done some major upgrades over the last few months, meaning that the numbers on the site right now are about the same as the record was set at in October - yet then at that point the site was unusable, while right now it's running smoothly - so those upgrades have paid off. :)

Well done! Only complaint I had earlier was not being able to use the "My content" feature which is handy for me as people seem to quote me a fair bit in the Reading forum.

turning off some features is a part of how everything is able to keep running smoothly.

I'll turn everything back on fairly soon, but things are still too busy right now for me to do it just yet.
