Licensing & Stage Timings (Leeds)

I've always wondered why the licensing for Leeds is different to that of Reading, and as a result, Leeds days are 30 minutes shorter. I'm not sure if it's just me but it has spolied several of the sub-headline slots over the years, notably Prodigy in 2009 who played majority of their set in daylight whereby the strobes/lighting didn't really have an effect.

I understand the whole licensing thing but to my knowledge, Reading's site is much closer to houses/shops etc than Leeds is (it's half an hour outside of Leeds itself and Weatherby can't be close enough to have a problem surely?

The reason I bring this topic up is because The Strokes is one of the bands I was most looking forward to seeing and it looks as if their set will too be spoiled due to the light issue. Reptilia in the dark at IOW looked amazing!

I have no idea, Reading has pretty strict licensing due to the proximity to the town centre and I always thought that Leeds would have less restrictions.

Leeds, I believe, have a general sound restriction in the UK which goes on until midnight. However, headliners and the like will all have the same amount of time available to play at both festivals.

Leeds doesn't finish 30minutes earlier. Leeds goes on till 6am whereas Reading finishes about 1am.
