NME/BBCR1 Stage to " possibly double the size of last year"

Melvin has stated that the NME/BBCR1 tent will be expanded greatly and could possibly be twice the size it was in 2010, the change

has been made so that people dont have to stand outside the tent trying to get a glance at a band can watch comfortably from the back of the tent. I'm not too sure if this is being put in place at Leeds, but I'm certain it is happening at the Reading site.

What's people's thoughts on this?

Strange that they've decided to do it this year when there's no-one that jumps out as the potential 'tent rammed within in an inch of it's life' band this year as there's been in previous years with Mumford, MGMT, Florence etc.

I've got a feeling the Vaccines will be pretty packed, especially as its on the heavier mainstage day so anyone who doesn't fancy that will more than likely be there.

And anyway the bands that usually have the tent packed are the ones whos popularity shoots a month or so before the festival so the organisers don't have time to tinker with things.

Can imagine Beady eye, white lies and some on the Sunday to be quite packed, I guess it means it'll be less dangerously crushy.

If they were to increase size at Leeds they would have to relocate it surely, it looked a pretty tight fit last year.

He doesn't mention a tent increase at Leeds, only as one of the major changes at Reading.

Wouldn't be surprised if they expanded it by 10 cubic feet and then tried to cram several thousand more people in there.

Seems to be their logic with the campsite facilities so I expect it'll translate over.

Is there room for this at Reading? Thinking about where this tent is at the moment, I'm not sure how it could be much wider, unless they singificantly rejig other stuff too.

Not really for or against, to be honest. I've only been unable to get in there for bands I wanted to see a couple of times - though as capacity is up again, I guess it does make sense.

Shame there's not room to have an open air second stage, as it works really well at Download and V. Really can't see how they'd work it on the Leeds site though
