Any major difference between the two?

I think it's outrageous to say the the majority of people who go the Reading are dicks. Sue you can say "I've seen more dicks at Reading than any other festival" but to say more than half the people that go to Reading are dicks is massive hyperbole.

i've talked to quite a few bands about this and most of them tend to say they prefer reading for the "atmosphere of the crowd", this is what go:audio and the maccabees, also bombay bicycle club, foals and pete doherty does (which probably means the libertines do too).

I have never had a problem with anyone at Reading apart from the little scrote I caught having a look around my friends tent, he was about 15-17 so I could handle that myself. I think where I camp in purple just happens to be both in near the action, but also out of the way a bit too... you'd understand if I showed you where.

Edit- As for atmosphere, can't comment on Leeds but Reading this year I encountered far more less talkative/negative people around the campsites on jaunts but that could be due to loads of different reasons.

Bands - rarely any difference unless in the odd instance a band will only play one site (Kaiser Cheifs in '07 (as Hooks for Hands)).

Stages - same stages although some at Reading are bigger and Leeds get music on a Thursday on BBC introducing (formerly Topman unsigned).

After hours - Leeds has loads of parties going on i.e Picadilly Party as it's in the middle of nowhere. AFAIK Reading has to shut down around 11:30 after the bands stop. But you get silent disco (same as Leeds).

At Reading you get easier access to supermarket, I've never been but reading this there is a Tesco across the road. Whereas at Leeds it's about a fifteen minute drive to Tesco or twenty minute drive to Sainsburys.

Reading has higher capacity than Leeds. Reading - 87,000 | Leeds - 75,000

Correct anything that is wrong, most of it was off the top of my head.

PS for those of you saying atmosphere is better at Leeds and there are less dick heads.. Inevitably you get those types of people at both sites and if anything I can see Leeds being worse as people get carried away with the all night parties (finishing at 6AM).

For the record I have only ever been to Leeds festival not Reading.

Are we really having a which site is better topic? :$

However to make a general comment I'd say that 99% of the people I've met at Leeds are great and I bet it's the same at Reading, however there are a minority who are just there to piss everyone else off and unfortunately I was camped next to some last year.
