budbecks
Hi all, Last time i went to glasto was 2005 and we took a works van that we emptied and fitted a working sink and cooker and chucked a couple of mattresses down. They seemed fine with it. Going again this year but the van i have is a bit smaller, it a renault trafic so isnt tiny but still smaller than before. I intend to do the same take everything out of it and fit a rock and roll bed and cooker/worktop/cupboard. Somewhere online it says it must have sleeping facilities as well as cooking OR washing. Does this mean i can get away with a rock n roll bed and just a cooker or do i have to put a sink in as well ? it will all be fitted as if it were a conversion as i might keep it for future use. All help much appreciated
eodsi
dont know much about it myself but found this on the main website............. What counts as 'suitable fitted facilities' in a camper/caravan? Your campervan/caravan MUST have purpose-built fitted sleeping facilities and either fitted cooking or washing facilities. Any converted vehicles must clearly be live-in vehicles. This does not mean simply a van with a piece of foam cut to size for a bed, and a bucket for washing! A team of campsite staff and security staff will check that campervans and caravans coming into these fields have bona fide living accommodation. No other vehicles will be let onto these fields under any circumstances - not even late replacement vehicles in the case of a breakdown - sorry. hope this helps just saw this underneath it....... What will happen to my vehicle if it is considered unsuitable for the campervan fields? Unsuitable vehicles, including unconverted vans, with tickets for the camper van fields, will not be allowed entry and will be sent to one of the festival car parks - and, as it is contrary to our licence, security patrols will not permit sleeping in any vehicles in these car parks. DeadAmos
Last year security wanted to look inside my caravan "just to check" (for what I had no idea), it is a proper caravan with all the fixtures and fittings If you can do someting like the hire vans from the poster above , you should be OK as they look like a simular layout to the older VWs hope this helps

budbecks
wow i must say some of those really do look simples. More like a people carrier with an ikea shelf picked on on the way stuck in the boot !!. Yeah, i was thinking of doing something similar to this http://www.convertyourvan.co.uk/DSCF1120.JPG But where the cupboards are on the left, i was going to make it one long worktop with a cooker and maybe sink built it. The bed would be pretty much the same, going to order foam cut to size and make a rock and roll bed either using the proper hinges or just a slide type. Making it will be no problem at all it just what you can get away with is the key. Im actually looking forward to doing it, nice little project for me. Only things is that they will be no windows in the back as its a panel van. But then thats what we had before just a LDV convoy, slightly bigger !! budbecks
Also, do you have to enter the reg number of the van you will be taking when you order the ticket or does this not matter ? cheers
