radstocker
Some people have said last years Download was the best bill but what about this one from back in the day? Obviously a bit before my time
radstocker
And there's this beauty... This was 1988 yet, with the exception of Guns N Roses in that low spot, that line up could be now!! metalman
Depends, for the ones I have attended and since it was renamed Download the best line-up was 06 for me.
thedudeman
Im to young to have gone to any MOR donnington but it did have some awsome line-ups. I went to MOR at milton keyens in 05?? It was the best day ever. Really wish they wud bring back 1day festivals. 1 day, 5 or 6 great bands one after another. Its much better than having 3 days with 15 good bands spread across and then 80 shit bands.
radish
My favourite MOR was probably 1994, first year to have 2 stages - Aerosmith Extreme Sepultura Pantera Therapy? Pride & Glory Second Stage: The Wildhearts Terrorvision Skin Biohazard Cry of Love Headswim With the exception of Extreme, every band just played an immense set, with (hazy memories so might not be wholly accurate) a Biohazard stage invasion, Terrorvision doing their thing and getting everybody bouncing, Wildhearts obviously on another planet but totally in charge, Pantera followed by Sepultura, then by the woeful Extreme (really, I mean why, after those two bands and the Wildhearts on the 2nd stage did they come out and try to put on a really turgid self-congratulatory performance?), then topped off with an epic Aerosmith set complete with supporting aeroplane during Livin' on the Edge (you had to be there). cornucopia
'88 or 2009 for me. RIP to the 2 that lost their lives though.
Chavmeisterdeluxe
Did anyone really say last year was the best line up ever? It was gash. Strong headliners sure but they'd clearly run out of money after booking those 3.
Lithium05
2009 was the best for me. But on paper 2006 was the best line-up for the times I've been going.

radstocker
But not before mine... that was a GREAT day!! tbh I don't think I could choose a favourite. 81 was wicked, my first year 82 was better than you'd think (the 'Tommy Vance is a c*** still ring in my ears - I was young enough to be shocked ) 83 was awesome and 84 and 85 (that was the year I jumped the fence I think) 86 wasn't too shabby either... I could choose an un-favourite, if you like? It would be easier
Stalemate
2009 best line-up ever.
WildChildRockChick
Yay! Someone on here older than me. 88 was my first. I remember being stood in the crowd near the back and this full can of coke whizzed past my nose at about 100mph and completely took out the bloke in front of me. I recall being slightly scared. Matticus
out of the modern download era ones, it would have to be 2004 or 2006.

metallimuse
2006 without a doubt. An incredible line up and a fantastic weekend.
Matticus
plus 2006 was smack bang in the middle of the heatwave. as well as the fever surrounding the world cup. was a high spirited weekend with some unforgettable performances ( Korn minus JD, Metallica playing Master Of Puppets, Prodigy playing in a tent!, to name a few)
Steve-o
In terms of MOR, definitely 1988 or 1995. Sadly, being born in 84, I was too young for 88, and only knew like two bands on the 1995 line up (Metallica) at that time! Oh, If I was born 10 years earlier... 14 for '88, 21 for '95, that'd be amazing. But no, my favourites attended were 2005 (amazing second stage line up) and 2006. 2006 was an absolute stormer. Tool headlining, supported by Deftones! Metallica doing MOP! Prodigy and SOIA doing packed tents! I couldn't get near for prodigy, so opted for SOIA, who I was watching for the second (and even better) time. Other highlights: Down's "secret set", finally seeing Strapping Young Lad live, and "Korn Karaoke", which was pretty interesting. Ozzfest '02 was pretty good too.
