The odd random meeting point "Official Flag" is an excellent idea. I don't like the "ban" idea - it doesn;t seem right - just hope that people would understand that it can be irritating and stop doing it.

Most poignant flag - 2 years ago I think. Photo of a young lad (early twenties I guess). With RIP.....his name....Forever at Glastonbury. Thought it was nice of his mates to carry around his memory like that.

stop whinging about flags, its a flag, if you can't see move your head slightly to the left or right!! I am about 5ft5" and struggle to see wherever I stand but I don't want to ban tall people, I have enjoyed many a chuckle at Chris Kamara flags etc, they do assist as meeting points and add to general easy going vibe, its a fcuking flag people!

Dave rules!

In addition, are the majority of these flags not about 10ft in the air??! there may be a thin strip of pole obstructing your view of bono's pink glasses but who cares? if people want to carry a flag let them do it! perhaps we should make glasto an all seated event with no talking or dancing?

I can't see that image but have been going to festivals for last 10 years and never found flags to be that much of an issue. just move a bit if you that arsed about seeing, bono is a cnut anyway. If you see a big fcuk off flag this year with the words 'I HATE FLAGS' on it feel free to come over and punch me in the arm.

I bet everyone has at some point found friends in a field of thousands by using a flag as an aid, i've just never found them an issue but perhaps its just my ability to move slightly if something is obstructing my view. the vast majority of flags are high enough to cause no bother to anybody. stop being so soft.

Standing at the front with a flag, not even watching the band but on Facebook updating your status to see if anyone can see your flag on the TV? You're a twat. Plain and simple.

If it wasn't a danger to others I'd f**king torch them. the flags, not the flag holders obviously.

This has been added to the fine guide 2011- what do people think?

Flags

"Glastonbury welcomes flags and appreciates how they add to the atmosphere of the event. However, we are aware that not everyone agrees. Whilst we would never like to ban flags at Glastonbury we do ask that you may consider keeping them away from the main stages, so as not to obscure the view from others behind. As is in abundance throughout Glastonbury, we ask for tolerance and understanding from both sides."

What do people think? I think this is a perfect thing to add to the guide - well done the Eavis'....back of the net!!
