Fiasco?

What on earth are people on about? This happens almost every year it would appear. They don't pick a band that's headlined the festival in the last 3 years and people start moaning! Wake up, we have MCR headlining, if you don't like it don't go. Simple as.

The Strokes and Muse are 2 of the biggest bands in the world, one of which is arguably one of the best live bands and the other has been away for 5 years and come back with a great album.

Ontop of that we have a better undercard than last year and the legendary Pulp playing their last ever UK show. Fiasco I think not.

Really doubt this would be Pulp's last ever UK gig and and Strokes just headlined 2 UK fests last year.

I'm only going on what I've been told about Pulp, I heard this was their last ever tour with Leeds being their last UK show.

And the Strokes played Isle of wight and Rockness, hardly the most accessible festivals for people in middle England.

The problem is that it all comes down to perception and PR - Muse and the Strokes are pretty big headliners in my eyes but it's true that they were around last year. Whether they were accessible to people who would normally go to R&L doesn't really matter as people pointing out how poor the headliners are either don't go to R&L or are the kind of idiots for whom the status of the headliner is more important than the actual music (and therefore would rather have Coldplay, Arctics and KOL playing just like at other festivals). GNR and Blink were weren't in that boat last year as they didn't have any recent festival history, Muse and The Strokes are this year. Even if the people that are complaining didn't see The Strokes or Muse last year at another festival they're still going to moan.
