Granted, Be Here Now is a poor album but the next two were brilliant. Obviously not reached the standard of DM and MG but that was never gonna happen.

regardless of whether or not they are 'brilliant', you can't deny that they wouldn't be half the band they are without DM and MG. so i'd say they're living on past glories.

While Oasis' later albums aren't as good as the first two, the later ones are by no means bad (Dig Out Your Soul notwithstanding). To be honest, who hasn't Liam Gallagher insulted? And The Strokes' band members are no longer getting on so well together, that's been said by even them. Still doesn't mean Liam can have a go but it's what he does, it's got to the stage where we should just be ignoring him.

The Strokes later stuff is better than Oasis' later stuff, including the undeservedly maligned First Impressions Of Earth which I think is a belter and better than Room On Fire. Oasis, on the other hand, haven't released a consistently decent album since Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants.

Both fantastic bands in their prime though, who wrote generation defining anthems and did their bit for the change of direction in music when they came about.
