thesecretingredientiscrime
http://www.nme.com/news/the-cribs/56040 Well they had one fantastic album with him anyway!

thesecretingredientiscrime
Well I'd imagine it would be the only album he played on, Ignore The Ignorant.
mrtourette
I think the jibe was obvious it just wasn't very comedic

Tigerdragon
Putting them above JEW would make Madness one slot lower. What a crazy world.

bfste
I reckon the news makes them more likely and I can see them playing lower than the 4th they did last year now (Marr did give 'em a bit more "star power") but I wouldn't like to guess where. mb23
The Cribs have been 'TBC'd' for a while now, will they actually play?!?! Or will they just get announced with the rest of the next lineup announcement?
moss265
As others have said, surely they'll either play second on NME, below Friendly Fires on Main or be the Thursday night band at Leeds, although would seem a waste not to have then play at Reading too. SamSheppard
The Cribs wont play 2nd on NME, The headlined it in 08, and they havent exaclty gone down in popularity. Edited April 12, 2011 by SamSheppard
PigOnAntibiotics
I reckon they'll be playing below The National. Madness playing 6th instead of 5th isn't really a big deal. They'd fit in nicely on the Saturday.
mrtourette
But that's likely to mean Pulp will be playing a shorter set than The Strokes at Reading (and vice versa at Leeds).
saints15
Am I the only one who thinks they won't end up getting announced?
mrtourette
Who knows. I guess if we assumed that efestivals were wrong about every prediction we'd have nothing to argue about! But yeah it does seem odd that they're playing and I doubt many people thought that they'd play before they popped up as TBC. saints15
Also I swear Melvin said no more big bands are going to be announced. I would class The Cribs as a big band, although Melvin does like to use subjective words

harderfaster
Completely agree. Beady Eye would not headline NME if they did not have Gallagher in them.

rexclark
The Cribs were booked to headline the NME tent before Johnny Marr joined the band so this arguement is redundant.
Bradders
If anything, the fact that it's so unlikely The Cribs will be added makes me believe the TBC even more. Neil would know it doesn't really make any sense for them to be announced now so he must have some really solid info to list it.
j...rox
Above The National I reckon, shame as I would like to see them headline the tent, Opposite Muse would have been a great slot for them. Either way they're brilliant and I'm glad they lost Johnny Marr. Mens Needs, Womens Needs, Whatever is one of my favourite albums. Be Safe is one of my favourite tracks. Thought they were great last year except the sound for Our Bovine Public failed them from where I was standing which was a bit unfortunate, not too sure what happened.
