Chances are that the lock up will not be on the MCR day, as the amount of heavier music is less on the other two days, so would give more balance.

It's happened in the past where the lock up has been on the 'rock' day but looking at this year's line up, I doubt it.

2007 was Fri/Sun.

But in the past there was a semi tradition of the Sunday being the 'rock day' and so the Fri/Sat lock up balanced it out. Looks like that day is a Friday this year.

As much as I am indifferent about MCR, I'd rather have the lock up on Sat/Sun, as very little floats my boat on the main/NME stages those days.

Could be some horrendous clashes on the Fri if we had a lock up then. Plus only leaves the NME/FR tents for those who are less keen on the heavier music.

Theory didn't quite work last year, due a really well balanced main stage. Actually the more I look at it, the less the pattern works, dammit!

In 2010 The lock up was on the Friday, even though the main stage featured almost entirely Rock/Punk bands (GnR, QOTSA, NOFX, Billy Talent).

Who knows when it will be this year but people shouldn't assume Dance tent should be on the rock oriented day, because it clearly doesn't always happen.

I think we can assume that the Lock up will definitely be on the muse day due to the acts on the NME stage so it means either the Pulp and MCR Day will be the dance stage day. The only thing that makes me think its the MCR day is the fact Crystal Castles and Odd future are playing the Strokes day.

Also dont forget the days are different to the last 2 years so people saying the Lock up is always Friday and Saturday means nothing as the Days have changed.

Apart from that mentioned several times above and in other threads?

It makes pretty much zero sense to have the Lock Up clash with a main stage that is entirely punky/alternative and the Dance Stage headliner clash with 2manydjs (who arguably could have just headlined the Dance Stage anyway). Also, Frank Turner and Taking Back Sunday being the most obvious contenders (across all three days) to be the band to play a second set in the Lock Up n' all.

It was only a year after the change to one day so I suppose you can't be sure if the Dance Stage being on Sunday was set before or after it, but in 2007 the dance stage was moved to the Saturday as the Sunday NME stage had that whole nu-rave thing going on and it would have been silly to clash the two.

If I'm wrong then feel free to quote me on it but I'm struggling to understand why I would be...

we're not saying you're wrong,we're just hoping youre wrong.there are a lot of people hoping for a decent lock up stage to watch instead of MCR and beady eye.

i must admit, one of the things that made me happy about the line up was that MCR were on the friday as i didnt want the lock up to clash with muse.at the time i thought it was set in stone that lock up was fri and sat.
