I really hope the reunion rumours aren't true, becuase I will be compelled to go to at least one gig, and it will be awful.

Great band ("boo to Shoebox's booing of the Stone Roses", etc) but terrible live band.

I saw them at THAT Reading Festival show and have despised them ever since. I don't get on with that whole Manchester swagger bullshit anyway. It's all bollocks to me.

I do know, Jester. And although the Madchester stuff was not for me, at least you were listening to stuff that was considered cool at the time. I was probably immersed in The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway!

I got into the Madchester stuff a little late, probably didn't actually start listening to the Stone Roses until The Second Coming came about. But my liason with the genre was short lived as I soon became disillusioned with all the swagger and laddish behaviour. Then the tunes became tired and boring.

I still listen to the Inspiral Carpets though.

When did the debut come out? '89? Yeah, I was 13 and probably going through my "rave" phase at the time. Desperately trying to cling on to whatever fashions my peers were peddling. It was another 2 or 3 years before I started carving out my own identity.

Oh man, I used to have every Genesis album ever (I mean seriously, all of them). I probably went from Genesis to the Smiths to the Roses (with a lot of overlap) from about 87 to 89.

(maybe we can get original lineup Genesis to do an acoustic set on the Thursday?)
