Hes done an average lineup for this year to make up for it next, we're hoping. And it makes sense with 2012 being an aniversary year and no Glasto, meaning it'll almost certainly be a quick sell out.

However its backfired massively, this average lineup hasn't exactly been selling like hot cakes and i for one am glad. Don't sell your customers short by dubbing them into thinking the lineup will be 'staggering' and then not produce.

If we are rating festivals id have to say

1 - Tinthepark - at the minute, but I think its going to be shit once the line up splits into stages, there is going to have to be a lot of clashes.

2 - R&L - Best overall line up bar TITP

3 - Glastonbury - The first line up ive seen that could interest me all weekend for glasto but Im going to go in 2013

4 - Global Gathering

5 - Bestival

6 - Download - But to samey

7 - Sonisphere - Really dont see why its getting praise, a meh lineup with headliners that play over here every year

8 - V - Terrible, just terrible

T has a very strong mainstream line-up, but of the bands not playing R&L I'd only be bothered about Foos, Weezer, Eels, Brandon Flowers and Primal Scream (although less than usual as they're playing Screamadelica). Maybe Blink, but they would never be back this year anyway. In fact I doubt Weezer were ever likely to either. R&L has The National, The Offspring, Elbow, The Pigeon Detectives, Seasick Steve, Cage The Elephant, The Joy Formidable, The Kills, Yuck and Friendly Fires that I want to see and that aren't at T (yet lol). I can understand the appeal of T, I guess I'm just lucky that even though there glaring flaws in the line-up for my personal taste there are more bands that I actually want to see playing at R&L. I can get that a lot of people wanted Deadmau5, Chase & Status and House of Pain but they don't interest me.

The Pyramid Stage at Glasto is piss poor but the Other Stage and JP stage are great, lots of the bands that I mentioned above. The difference is that they have QOTSA, The Wombats, Chemical Brothers, Eels, The Coral and Primal Scream (again, Screamadelica...) not playing R&L compared to The Offspring, The National, The Pigeon Detectives and Seasick Steve that R&L have. Glasto probably wins, but the chance to see The Offspring and The National make it closer than it looks.

V is a waste of time.

IOW have Foos and Kasabian headlining and Iggy playing, although it's hard to compare as not much of the line-up has been released. What does make up the rest of the main stage is pretty bad though, I don't think I could wait through that shit to see a couple of good bands later on. Same applies to Download. Soni's line-up is interesting but take out Weezer and there isn't really a band that I'd kill to go and watch.

In short I've got lucky as while there are issues with R&L (or mainly the promoter) there are a lot of bands playing R&L that I want to see.

If we're doing top 5s, I'm gunna go worldwide

1. Coachella

2. Bestival

3. Werchter

4. Hurricane

5. Glastonbury

T has one of the bigger line ups band-wise, but it's not got the all round line up to make my list. Eels and Deadmau5 are good calls though

Sonisphere is as good as it's been as well, and I'm a bit gutted I graduate on the Monday so I can't work it. Weezer, Slipknot, The Mars Volta, Howard Marks and Bill Bailey. Dayum.

Download is terrible for me other than The Darkness and System, both of whom I'd love to see

Right down near the bottom is Leeds/Reading. V probably steals the worst line up award but other than the Muse day (only interested in them for Origin really, and DFA1979 and Interpol) I have very little interest in the line up. Plus I saw Interpol last month, DFA twice when it mattered and have seen most of Origin live at other gigs

Completely agreed on going abroad. Coachella is just brilliant all round (best crowd I've been in by MILES and organisation, line up and substances are great too)

Werchter is good, but the gaps between bands are far too big (40 minutes most of the time) and there's only two stages so there's not much to do while waiting. Food and sound are much better than you get here

I'm going to Bestival, Benicassim and Hurricane for the first time this year. I've heard Bestival has a much friendlier atmosphere than others in the UK and I love the line up personally, I booked Beni before it announced a rubbish line up which sucks and Hurricane has an amazing line up

Also, Hurricane tickets and flights cost less combined than Leeds/Reading so people can't argue that it's too expensive

Personally I think it's just really bad value for money to have 3 out of 4 headliners playing lower slots at another festival, especially due to how expensive this years prices and the fact the headliners are meant to be the names that cost. Personally I really like Reading and Leeds line-up this year and much prefer it as a festival but for the amount the tickets cost, it just seems for value for money.

Also considering it's the same case for NME stage headliners, Beady Eye, the Streets and 2manyDJ's are all playing T.

I'm not sure why people defend Leeds/Reading. What is there to defend? Sub-standard line up (you can call this my opinion but V, T and Glasto have all sold out), poor atmosphere (these days anyway), overpriced, some of the worst toilets at any festival I've been to (only Glastos were worse for me), the worst food at any festival I've been to and the worst sound quality of any festival I've been to. Even the massive positives of the campsite DJs and Lock Up have been let down by the fact that last year people played Pendulum on repeat for 6 hours in the campsites and the Lock Up announced a relatively weak line up and was (again) stuck next to that fair ride which you could hear all weekend.

TITP does have a decent line up this year but it's also full of pish. R&L is probably the best festival for new acts. It gets actrs that are on the verge of being huge and gives acts a leg up unlike other fests who just play it safe. Yes, TITP is good but it's not amazing and festivals all have good and bad years. R&L are far bettter festivals than TITP anyway but that's another arguement.

As for anyone who says Glasto doesn't have the strongest headliners this year, I find that laughable. Three of the biggest acts in the world including one who doesn't play festivals. U2 playing Glasto is perhaps one of the biggest coups any festival has ever got.
