I think I follow that.

As I don't believe in God in the sense of a higher power I don't have to consider the question of whether God gave us free will.

However for most of us there are higher powers - like the people who employ us, the law and the Money People. We still have the free will to cross them if we choose, however we may find we have to face the consequences.

There are some aspects of life where we don't have free will, like facing natural disasters - earthquakes, tsunamis etc and the biggest is being born (something we didn't ask to happen) and where we are born and therefore the world/environment we have to live in.

There are people who believe that we choose who we are born to before we are even born. And they are not all currently in mental institutions either (although I dare say some may be rapidly heading in that general direction!). All very odd.
