FAQs

Was reading the FAQs on the Rockness site and it says something about only allowing one crate per person?

Are they going to be strictly enforcing this? Or just trying to appear to be clamping down on drunks...

Can I bring my own alcohol?

You can bring in a reasonable amount of alcohol into the campsites for your own personal consumption, which we limit to one case of lager per person and one plastic bottle of wine / spirits.

I don't think it would be a smart decision to start taking punters booze off them at the gates, especially as most people have a drink on the way there. I could see alot of fights if this was to happen.

Hopefully, like above, it's just to stop people taking the piss and taking in like 12 crates.

i think reading between the lines this actually means its 'all you can carry'. What they wont do is take alcohol off you, what they can do is prevent you from making more than one trip back to your car. Obviously they have no problem with anyone arriving on public transport as they have all they can carry anyway.

we used a pull along trolley last year (standard festival equipment!) and got all that we needed in. and if you play it right you can get your own into the arena too, but thats another concern.

Experienced this last year and almost chinned the guy at the gate. You can take as much alcohol you can carry on your FIRST run into the campsite. Once you have a wristband etc. you are not allowed to take more drink into the campsite. my arguement with the guy was if you take your numerous crates in on the first run, how the hell can you carry your tent in? are the crates gonna be sitting where you left them when you return with the tent? madness. we had to get randoms to smuggle the rest of our booze in!

it's a bit daft having that on the website. i feel sorry for any newbies who might read that and actually believe it, then leave themselves without enough drink for the weekend.

i've never heard of any festival having restrictions on how much booze you can bring in when you're making a few trips between the car and campsite.

If you were allowed to only take 1 crate of drink in, then everyone would just take bottles of Absinthe. It's pretty naive on their part, but it's obviously to try and show they are trying to battle binge drinking or whatever. I can't see them making much of an issue if you have a few bottles of booze in your bag and then a couple of crates in hand.

See one crate does me. It's pretty much 3 days drinking so an 24/3=8 tins a day + I have a bottle of spirits. I'll probably buy about £35ish of drink on site a day.

I only have a couple cans before I go into the arena and then some when I get back at night.

I'm the same. I'll only be taking about 18 cans, most will get drank on the Friday before I go in the arena, then a few for mornings. I'll have spirits and wine to keep me going for the rest of the time.
