Africa Oye FREE festival

Africa Oye is a brilliant free weekend,

This year headlined on the SATURDAY NOW NOT THE SUNDAY!!!!! by Marcia Griffiths..Young, Gifted and Black!!

I have nothing to do with the organising of this festival and have posted about the festival in previous years, as always it falls on my birthday the weekend of the 18th & 19th June.

Over the years the numbers have increased and there were over 35,000, prob 15,000 Saturday and 20,000 on the Sunday last year in who enjoyed a true peaceful, happy festival vibe in an unfenced open environment with brilliant acts all weekend all for the princely sum of nothing!

It has/had been advertised this year as a £5 per day charge in a fenced arena but the charge and fence have been lifted thanks to the kind bods at liverpool city council or whoever has continued the funding for it, totally non corporate the festival survives simply on donations and the sales of t shirts and bar sales, you can bring whatever you like with you and you wont see many officers of the law hanging around

Bumping this as its this coming weekend and the weather forecast is greatly improved, MARCIA GRIFFITHS one of Bob Marleys original Wailers is headlining Saturday night, if your in the area its well worth a visit
