It looks very 2009 to me, the heavy Friday at Reading, the Saturday which blends Indie with the odd heavier band and Sunday is the full-on Indie oriented day, save the one heavy band playing 5th from top. Friday's headliner is the American act that will probably cause a bit of controversy amongst the crowd like KOL did, Saturday's headliner is the Indie act who released a huge selling debut album and Sunday plays host to the experimental/avant garde headliner who could sell out any stadium they played and are famed for their live shows.

Headliner-wise it's a bit like 2004. Reading-wise on Friday you have the controversial new-ish band who are heavy sounding, Saturday you have the critically acclaimed Indie/Garage revival American headliner and Sunday you have the hugely popular Alternative act which will draw in the biggest crowd.

I guess then if we're talking headliners, Leeds-wise it's like 2003 - Friday has the huge stadium act, Saturday has the Kerrang! seal of approval band and Sunday has the Britpop legends.

See, I don't remember controversy around KOL before they played - in fact I remember 2007 'KOL should have headlined over Razorlight' etc. It wasn't until during/after they played that people got pissy.

Although if I remember, by the time they were announced in 2009 a lot of people had grown sick of Sex On Fire.

A bit like 2002, with the pulp/strokes combination and the likes of Muse and Janes Addiction playing

a bit like 2009 with the indie theme days

Hopefully next year will be a little more like 2008!
