Haven't they split up/hiatus?

Jay Z was brilliant at Wireless last year & I don't see why he wouldn't or couldn't do R+L. He almost "crosses over" & plays with a live band.

A lot of Londoners obviously went to the Wireless gig but I can't imagine the same people wanting to slum it at Reading for 4 days without being able to have a shower, do their hair etc & having to put up with the likes of A7X, BFMV on the line up as well.

It'll still be full of hipsters who I'd hope would give him a chance as it was good fun watching him.

I'm not huge on Paramore anymore, but yeah, headlining next year after a new album is out is a huge possibility. People don't seem to realize half the time how popular they really are, which is usually down to personal distaste for them, but the matter of fact is, there's no doubt they'll be one of the worlds biggest bands in a few years.

RHCP would be a good shout for next year, too.

I don't know about No Doubt, I don't remember them being particularly popular in this country back in the day (except for Don't Speak), unlike Pixies/Blink/Pumpkins I don't think enough of their back catalogue is well-known or they're considered seminal/influential enough to push them up to headliners. Same sort of situation that would prevent Soundgarden headlining I think.

Two Points:

Firstly... how about a Kanye / Jay Z joint headline slot? I personally think either could do it by themselves but joint would be amazing. Slightly pricey probably, but with the joint album and the promotion that would come with it I think they'd cut a good deal. And sticking mumford on the NME with DTR (or whoever) on the lockup I think everyone would be pleased and it'd go down very well. Plus who wouldn't want to see http://youtu.be/9jcLcoQ4_Bs or

?! :D

And secondly... I reckon Enter Shikari could headline  in 2/3 years if the new album and subsequent album went down well. They tend to draw a massive crowd and the demographic of RnL love them.

They've sold more albums & had more chart hits in the UK than the Pumpkins & Pixies though and their greatest hits/singles album went plantuim and that's with them not even having a robust output of singles compared to the other 2. Don't Speak is easily their biggest track but they had few other hits like Just A Girl, New, My Life, Sunday Morning, Hey Baby, Ex-Girlfriend & Hella Good off the top of my head.

I don't think those things matter as much when the majority of it happened so long ago. What matters is how well known/respected/revered/whatever they are now and whether they're connected to R&L's main demographic through things like being played in clubs or getting mentioned in magazines/online, especially when current bands are talked about.

I just think No Doubt are more likely to fall into the same category as Fath No More or Jane's Addiction nowadays rather than Pixies or Smashing Pumpkins. I don't think those two would healine now either, but I don't think No Doubt are in the same situation as they were when they headlined.
