I love band t-shirts. Mostly on other people though. Last year at the Primavera festival, there was this guy wearing a Dinosaur Jr tee who saw another Dinosaur Jr tee and got super excited (hands shake, high-5s etc...). My friend was incidentally wearing one too so he took a walk near the first guy who got super excited again so I wrote Dinosaur Jr on a piece of paper and stuck it on my tee, walked towards the guy and got a high 5 too :D . I felt special.

I like the incongruity of some things I own such as a pink Chris Isaak one with a big heart saying "Take my heart, Mr Lucky" on it. Always looks great at indie-underground-heavy gigs. ;) I shamelessly love Chris Isaak though and bought it at one of his gigs.

I have always been told that it was tacky to wear the tee-shirt of the band who is playing though. And I am always tempted to ask the same question as on Soccer AM to every Ramones-tee-shirt-wearing-fashionistas.

PS: I concur with the I facebooked you mum and other tees

What's the objection to t-shirts with tour dates on them? I've got a few of these & never thought anyone could have anything against them.

I'll wear gig t-shirts, but only where I've bought them at a gig, don't wear any of these generic ramones/stones/etc fashion accessory t-shirts. Only exception is a well designed arty Gram Parsons T-shirt I won at a charity tribute night years ago.

Never really thought about the etiquette of wearing band t-shirts to gigs, usually I'll just grab whatever t-shirt looks good without thinking about the band.

My friend recently bought a Ramones T-shirt because she liked the colour (it's green). I'm pretty sure if she was trapped in a lift with Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee she'd be none the wiser.*

*this is hypothetical of course, as Dee Dee had a phobia of lifts

OK, some people thought the reason I was up and away early on Sunday morning was to go and watch 'The Iron Giant' and that on Monday I didn't emerge from my tent until everyone else had left simply because I was having a lie-in. However, the truth is that following a shattering encounter with Ben on Saturday morning, I completely lost confidence in my wardrobe and took whatever measures seemed necessary to avoid another shattering humiliation.

Yet, for a few brief moments, life had seemed so GOOD when, having wandered over to the PerfectPassion estate I was subjected to a rigorous evaluation of my t-shirt du jour, a rather fetching little Dinosaur Jr number in blue. Colour, contrast, quality, typography, design, collar and cuffs all drew positive comments but he was less than impressed with the fit. Still, an overall 7.5 rating brought a glow to my cheeks and set me up for a great day's EOTR-ing but I dwelt on my glory for a moment too long as Zahid strolled over and was awarded what seemed like a very hurried 8.0!

'Crushed' does not even begin to describe it and I was left with a certain bitterness and the feeling that it wasn't the shirt which had let me down, but rather my somewhat generous physique, Ben and Zahid both falling at the opposite end of the 'trim' spectrum. Surely the 'fit' rating should take into account the effort made by the wearer to spare their fellow festival-goers from exposure to unsightly bulges. A little bit of surplus length and width should not automatically be viewed as a negative factor.

Or a meringue?

So, I was left to ponder what Mr Ben would have made of the debut appearance of my newest purchase, a near-perfect fusion of the twin gods - music and football (as worn by someone else entirely).
