Just as long as they don't make the same mistake as other festivals and start cluttering the line-up up with crap like N-Dubz & XXX-Factor . Theres definitely room for another 'adult' orientated festival. Most of us who caught indie the first time round will now be in our mid to late 30's (AHEM!).

Be interesting to see what happens with this one.

I appreciate that you are young and you had not started Primary School when the first Phoenix was held but Vince Powers { the promoter } has tons of experience hence why he was hired to be operational manager at Glastonbury during 2002 and 2005 - you may not be aware that Glastonbury was not held in 2001 due to the problem caused by gatecrashers in 2000 and there was a huge risk that MDC would withhold the licence if the situation was not sorted hence why Michael Eavis had to take drastic action and part of it was getting Vince involved.

The Phoenix may not be a well known name but its not a new festival - its a relaunch.

His company already runs Hop farm so all the connections are in place so its unfair to call them the newbie.

Vince was not hired as Glasto operational manager. Melvin was.

Vince only comes into that story because he was Melvin's boss, so had to agree to Melvin working for Glasto.

I appreciate yourself & Vince know about festivals much more than I (I've read some of your previous posts since joining with interest) but I don't know how many people would rely on the fact its a relaunch, or if they knew about the previous incarnation of Phoenix, to sway them to buy a ticket.

To me, & I am only guessing here, whether it is a relaunch or not, its still a new festival & we all know thanks to the efest forums how tits up these can go. I think people like the safety of buying a ticket to an established event, especially a major event & one costing over £150. When I bought a ticket to a new festival a couple of years ago, I was certainly worried what the experience would be.

I've shown the "leaked" line up to a fair few of my friends who are 17/18 & surprisingly its got a good reaction from these indie kids.

How do you know Reading is the better festival? Have you been to Phoenix?

With regards to the second bit, if what's being touted is relatively somewhere around being right, they're not going to go for the "r&l acts/crowd" anyway, and why would they, when r&l is having enough trouble itself?
