Mariner
I imagine there are many people, who aren't touts but who've bought tickets to sell on. This is pretty common among students and such who buy extra tickets to sell for a profit to cover the price of their own ticket. After last year's record sell-out, more people than ever must have tried this time. So how many of you lot have done this, and how many tickets have you to sell? There must be a quite a few of you. Personally, I don't see a big problem with the concept, as it's a bit of a gamble. This year however, you probably stand to lose quite a bit of money. Can you afford it? What's your story? This isn't meant to be a point and laugh thread, so guys please keep your 'serves you right' shit to yourselves and the actual touts who buy 30 at a time. Mega Ross
I know a guy who does, but theres always someone in our friend group who says they'll pass but wants a ticket just before. Only makes 30-40 quid on it. I wouldn't do it myself.

FiestaDave
Touts = Scum I'm glad they're struggling to even sell tickets this year, let alone for a profit.
ar1
Agree with the posters above, touts are just middle-men who cream money off people who really want to go by getting in there first. Middle men (or ladies!) are one of the worst things that a capitalist system generates - they cornere the market for something by buying at one price and selling it on for a higher price without doing anything other than push up prices for normal customers. IT IS NOT A VALID WAY TO FUND YOUR OWN TICKET IF YOU'RE A BIT SHORT OF CASH!
mrtourette
The warning signs were there last year. In 2009 tickets were going for upwards of £400 around the site (Reading), last year it was around face value.

Spud001
Hopefully the law comes in to limit ticket re-sale profits to 10%

mrtourette
In fact I might actually be thinking of 2008, I was in a pub on the Thursday night and Friday morning and people were buying tickets from proper touts and bedroom touts for £400. A couple of mates sold their extra ones for that price. I do recall touts asking for more for a day ticket to see Radiohead than for a weekend tickets at the start of the festival so yeah I must have the wrong year. jordanuk90
No matter what scale touts are touts, it's like saying a thief isn't a thief because he only robbed some scrap metal instead of a bank. Also I'm not surprised touts were asking for £400 for 2008 that lineup was insanely good it's what made me want to go to Leeds in the first place. chubbz
Thank God for touts I say. Gonna be able to get a cheap ticket this year thanks to their bulk buying and the festival underselling!

JC-Mo'Fucka
Never got all the hating people did on touts, but then I've never got tickets I wanted so I guess I wouldn't :/.
mrtourette
It also gives the organisers an inflated sense of how popular the festival is, if touts didn't buy tickets then maybe it would take longer to sell out and the orgaisers would be less keen you raise prices. Sparticus
Few years ago it was a good gig (Morally corrupt but where there's money to be made someone will always jump on it), fact is though that what was the going price on ebay (two ton) is now the same as the face value, so it makes sense that the arse has fallen out of the bedroom touting game. Toooly
I've bought 4 tickets on Ebay over the last couple of months. Worked out in total that me and my mates are gong to Leeds for £130 each, almost half price. I reckon we could have waited a little longer and got them even cheaper, oh well at least we know we're going now. Had the usual "I can no longer attend" bullshit off a couple of them, but one of them admitted straight up that he'd intended to sell on for profit and now needs to cut his losses Their Loss, My Gain
dirtymookie
Would be really good to have it just noticeably quieter with the missing quota being the gobshites, but can't quite see it happening. If the prices keep dropping the way they are then I can see them being snapped up by the opportunists. Maybe the proper vendors will still be left with a couple of thousand each though which would be good
FiestaDave
The cheaper than face value tickets won't be around next year as theres no Glasto so people will be looking for alternatives.
Messi30
Just bought a ticket for 145 quid all in. Assuming it turns up this will be my cheapest Reading for many years

Messi30
Yeah from ebay, I checked viagogo but they add about 30 quid to the listed price in fees! £150 seems to be going rate on ebay (I had a whole bunch in watch list - person I bought it from had a good rep so hope all will be sweet)
